Terrible mom Feeling like a terrible mom right now. Sammy and Callie need to be groomed pretty bad but I needed to wait until next week to do it so I planned to give them a bath, trim the hair around the pads of there feet, shave butts, and trim Sammy's face hair. I haven't used my clippers in a year but had watch a million videos on grooming even bought one. Well my little clipper wasn't working so I got the bigger one out and tried to use it to trim the hair between the pads of Callie's feet well it was hard because it is just way to big to even use on a larger yorkie but I did one paw ok and was almost done with the other when I saw blood some how I cut her paw she never even so much as flinched or cried when I did it. I felt so bad I got the bleeding to stop pretty quick and just held her for awhile. I am never ever going to use the clippers again. I could not actually see where it cut so I'm guessing it's very small but I feel so bad about it. |
I'm so sorry. It's ok. Everyone makes mistakes. I am the same way which is why I just leave it to the groomers/vets/etc! lol. Even things that others will tell me are easy, never end up being easy for me. And I'll probably do more bad than good! haha! Luckily, Callie loves you so much! She will forgive you. |
glad callie is ok and you're not a bad mom. it may have been more of a razor type burn than an actual cut. :) |
You are not a terrible mom, silly. I have made mistakes far worse, and I understand feeling really bad about it. Glad to hear Callie is okay, and I saw on FB that she is looking adorable after her grooming. :) |
Thanks everyone. She is going with me to my therapist appointment tomorrow and going to get a few toys and goodies from Petco! |

I've nicked Mimi's ear b4 & felt so horrible, but she still gave me kisses! Callie will be fine. Just wondering if you oiled your blade since it hasn't been used in awhile? Sometimes they get rusty (not color rusty) & needs a little lubrication. You just put a tiny bit on the edge & let it run, you'll see the oil distribute along the edge of the blade. |
Taylor, for SURE you are not a horrible mom. Please...I wish everyone loved and doted on their pups like you do with Callie. What a lucky girl she is! Things happen...even groomers cut pups on occasion. Don't beat yourself up. |

When my daughter was a baby, I accidentally nipped her finger with the baby clippers when I was clipping her nails, and I cried longer and louder than she did!!! I made my mom do it from then on. Westley hates his paw pads touched, and his feet, so he's hard to clip, and his are pretty bad right now, so I'm feeling your pain. We never want to hurt them! |
That's ones of my bigger fears, since I know that will be sometimes that I won't be able to take Sasshi to the groomer and might need to do some small grooming myself, but nothing major happened Callie for sure know it wasn't on purpose and knows how much you care for her |
We all have things happen. I am afraid of cutting to far I have to take Galen to have his nails cut. Meanwhile I clip 4 cats nails once a month. Give her a little extra love and a few cookies. |
