confession :( 1 Attachment(s) So after these past 14 weeks I have cared for a yorkie that I adopted. (pregnant) her puppies are now 7 weeks old. and I am super attached :( I want to keep the runt of the litter. I named him wild one because he is so SPASTIC it is hilarious! We let him out of his pen with the mom and he runs and runs until he just zonks out. But I know I have to let them go. :( but here is a pic of them sleeping. I am dreading the day they will be gone :( |
Awww, how precious. Congrats on the new little family. |
I do NOT envy you. This is why I can never foster or even go to a shelter. I'd want to keep/bring them all home. The puppies are just prescious... I probably won't be able to let any of them go and end up on one of those reality shows.. animal hoarders. |
Aw! Little cuties! |
They are cute! I would have to keep one whats one little yorkie. My cat had kittens and we had to keep 3 lol |
Cute! Energizer bunnies recharging their batteries. ;) |
Oh, I don't blame you. I've never been in your position, but I can only imagine how hard it would be. I've never even met the pups, but the pic makes me want one! You clearly care a great deal about these little guys! Once the hard part is over, you will have great memories and experience to share and help others. :dogwalk::thumbup: |
How adorable they are sleeping but I just can't imagine what it like when they are awake. I wouldn't be able to give any of them up. We are going to south Carolina next month, as we pass thru on 95, would you be so kind as to pass a few thru the car window? ;) My husband would shot me. He says we are full, Not! |
I say go ahead and keep him! But if you can't, at least you can decide who gets him, right? |
I would want to keep them all lol |
I too have over the years raised many litters of feral kittens, and out of 7 litters, one stayed 5 out of 7 times :-) so yea I am no help :-) |
So we decided that we get to be very picky on who gets a puppy :) they will come with their first set of shots ( through my vet) and they have their tails docked and dew claws removed already and whoever gets a puppy will have to sign a consent that they will have them fixed and will not try to breed them. As well as if they decide to not keep the puppy they will give them back to us so we can properly find a new home for them :) that makes me a little bit ok with letting them go. But I will miss the puppy barks and the bites and the running around the house herding my other yorkies. But the good news is I get to keep the wild one! :) |
aww they are sweet I would never want to have them leave either. :) Glad your being picky about their new homes. |
They are absolutely adorable, I could never part with them, I would keep them all, one reason why I always got my females spayed. If I ever were to have breed, I would not be able to part with them. You have a good contract, return if not wanted or cannot keep. Good luck to you. |
so glad they are letting you keep one, I was going to ask why you could not. Just curious how this group works, since you took on a pregnant mom, did you still have to pay the adoption fee, and do they help with all the vet bills regarding to the birth of the puppies, what did they decide to do on the tails, dock or not. I have no agenda for asking just very curious about how all this works, because my sister in law has done that for a westie group in Nashville but she fostered the mom she did not adopt the mom. The puppies were kept in her master bathroom and between the mom and the puppies she was busy round the clock |
Aww they are adorable. It is very hard to foster |

But I can say I am still trying to get them switched fully to dog food.. the only thing they will eat is alpo chunks. :( I tried science diet, blue buffalo, making my own puppy food.. nothing. any suggestions? I feed them wet food twice a day and puppy ice cream at night before I go to bed, ( I don't want to risk hypoglycemia reactions while I am asleep) and I keep science diet dry food for small breeds in their pen for them and the mom. ( they somewhat eat that as well but they prefer to drag it all around the pen so I have more to clean up when I do my daily cleaning) |
1 Attachment(s) this is them at 6 weeks |
oh I see, I misunderstood, I though you must have adopted them from a rescue group and they said you could not keep one. That sure is a lot of dogs you all have, must be a fun household. The puppies are cute, good luck with it all. |
I'd be the worst breeder ever I'd keep them all |

I don't think so, she said the puppies are from a pregnant pup she adopted. But LOL I guess I should let the OP answer for herself |

no lol they were fixed as soon as their heat cycle was over. I never wanted to breed. The males also were fixed in Jan. Breeding is not for me. This is exactly the reason why, I get too attached to the puppies to let them go. I also don't have the genetics on my moms yorkies as well as one of those females has a luxating patella (sp) So that automatically took her out of any thought of breeding. As well if you look at my pictures too the other female is too small to breed. ( in my opinion anyways) She is exactly at 5lbs. |
Your puppies are beautiful! Heck I had a hard time letting my little mutts go so I can't imagine letting Yorkie pups go. Fostering is very hard for me as I get attached so easy. Puppies jump right into my heart everytime but in order for me to help other dogs in need I have to let them go. I feel for you when you have to hand them over to their new owners. At least you get to keep your wild child! Best of luck and thanks for taking such good care of mom and her pups! |
I have taken in a lot of pregnant dogs and cats over the years. It is very difficult to part with the babies after going through the pregnancy, birth, and watching them grow up. Many times I have cried as the new owners come to take them. I remember once a very nice guy came to get a baby for his wife. They were very nice people but I just loved that little baby so much. I cried so hard he offered to leave the babe since I was so upset. I told him no and that I knew I could not keep them all. I admit to keeping a few over the years but for the most part you have to know how much you can handle and keep the numbers down especially when you intend to continue to help these poor creatures. If you can afford to keep a puppy and care for it properly then do it. If you don't think you could handle it then find him a good home. |
