Should I or shouldn't I ???? I got a call today from a breeder who rescued a tiny yorkie. She said she knew she could find her a good home and didn't want to just leave her where she was. She had a friend who said she wanted the little girl, however this friend has a housefull of dogs and the little one was too frightened and overwhelmed with this many dogs. She called me and asked me if I would take her. She thought I would be a good fit since I am still at home and have time to spend to make her comfortable and only have Wallee who loves all dogs. The little girl will be 2 in Jun and since Wallee is only turning 2 this month, they are basically the same age. She weighs only 4.5 lbs compared to Wallee's whopping 12 and she is a blonde. She also loves to be held and carried around. (Something Wallee hates). I see good and bad in it all. I know Wallee would absolutely love a playmate as any dogs who come here for clothing he wants to play with. Since I am without a job and about to begin collecting my unemployment and looking for a job I think maybe she may help Wallee with me having to go out to work....but....I don't want Wallee to be jealous...and....I was told that she also has a bit of lp in one of her rear legs...not sure where that will lead me down the road either. I did ask if perhaps I could bring her here and see if it works and if not return her....hmmmm....what to do...tomorrow I will be getting pictures of her. |
I vote yes! yes! yes!!!!! |
Your heart may be stolen by a little Yorkie girl after you look at her photo and a visit with Wallee. I think if she is a very lucky girl she gets to go home with you. Perhaps you could bring her by your vet and have them look at the possible LP problem. Not all dogs with LP require surgery many do well just by restricting jumping off furniture and other activity that puts a strain on the knees. I hope it works out for all three of you. |
I say go for it! This could be your answer to help Wallee deal with the idea of you going back to work, AND you would have someone to wear the beautiful clothes you make! |
I would see how the meet with Wallee and you go. Then you can see how it will work. Also give them food together. See how that dynamic is. Good luck. |
I vote yes if Wallee approves. :) |
LOL Once you bring her home, I think you wouldn't be able to return her. That is unless Wallee would take issue with her. Good luck to you! |
If you can take on the expense of a second dog I think it will be great for all of you. |
Go for it. |
I vote yes, bu Wallee has the last word :) |
Wasn't meant to be :( I got the photos and told the lady I would come for the dog but when she heard I had cats she said the little one was afraid of cats.....she didn\'t want her to suffer any more stress.....so.....Wallee remains an only dog for now. |
On one hand, I\'m sorry you weren\'t able to get her. Especially after making a hard choice. On the other hand, I\'m glad that lady is looking out for the pup\'s best interest. |
Too bad I know Wallee would have been a great big brother. I hope the "wee one" finds a perfect forever home. |
I totally agree. I told the breeder I respected her decision after hearing the little one was afraid of cats. Her best interest has to be what matters. I myself always promote harmony amongst my pets and expect all to get along as best as possible. I would not bring in a cat hater dog to my environment and also would not tolerate my cats stocking or scratching a dog...I worked hard with Wallee on a tether when he was a pup to teach him to be nice to the kitties...All but one of my cats are great even with visiting cats...the other, a bit cranky and hisses at Wallee however has never attempted to hit him....her hiss is enough for him to run a huge circle around her. Since the others are so passive however, Wallee still has some behaviour problems with how to treat them at times. He will always lie in wait if he hears them downstairs in their litter and bump them hard and bark as they try to come up. If we see him go lay there we will go put a gate up to keep him back as the one he bumps most often will try to walk along the outside of the railing along the edge to try to avoid being bumped.....grrrr... if he bumped this kitty here he could fall down to the basement. |
I\'m sorry. If there\'s a bright side at least you didn\'t get her home then find out about the cat issue--that would have been worse for you and the little girl. |
