Razor Burn? Hi all, I had Enzo at the groomer last week for a haircut etc. He loves his groomer, who also happens to be his agility instructor so I'm not here to dis my groomer. This morning after a long belly rub, I noticed a bit of what appears to be razor burn under Enzo's front leg, his arm pit I guess gives a better description of where it is...It doesn't seem to bother him, but it does look like maybe he scratched it a bit - Is there something I can put on it to heal it faster & without irritation? My hubby suggested polysporin, but I'd prefer something more natural in case he tries to lick it off. Thanks in advance for your help :) |
Coconut oil. |
Just rub it on the ouch? Multiple times a day I assume? I can find this at a pet store or grocery store? |
Once or twice a day (unless he licks it off... then as often as you feel like). The kind you can get in the grocery store will do the job just fine. (Baking isle with the cooking oils) |
I would put some hydrocortisone cream on it as it's anti-inflammatory. Or try coco oil like KJC suggests. |
Vetericyn. It's all natural so it doesn't do any harm if your pup does lick. I used it on Zoey b/c she was scorched with hot soup. Worked really well for her. If you decide to get this, I'd suggest the hydro gel spray. I heard this one works better and it's what I used. |

Poor thing came running to me crying. I went through the first aid method of caring for scorched/burns right away. It was bit late at night and she seemed ok so I just kept an eye on her and decide whether to take her to the vet in the morning. Luckily, Zoey wasn't too badly hurt. Vetericyn seemed to have helped alot and healed the area more quickly. |
