Any vehicle after I believe 2000 (need to double check)is required by law to have the latch system all seats behind the front have them and all trucks have them in the front. That being, said I'd love to get some for my bigger dogs. They could be left in place and are stil small enough to fit through the holes in the seat cover I have to protect the upholstery. Much quicker than wrestling them into their car harnesses. Just hook to their regular harness.
My car was made before 2000, so I probably don't have them.

How big are your big dogs? I need to look into getting clips for bigger dogs.

The tether weighs 4oz, most of the weight is from the screw on clip.
Your car seat tethers look FANTASTIC! Using that knotting method, they will be incredibly strong! Go for it girl!!!

As Ann states, you can ship for much less. If you use PayPal shipping - I LOVE IT! - you can ship a 5 oz. USPS 1st class parcel for $2.09 and a 6 oz. parcel is just $2.25 with a free delivery confirmation. I used checked 5 and 6 ounces to allow for packaging and the weight of the label. If you order padded envelopes and labels a case at a time, you can really get the price of the shipping materials down.

Put me on the list for 2. Black if possible, and can we specify a length? My boys are bigger. I will measure their current tethers to give you an idea of what length a 9 pound dog needs.

I would think the hardware size should be fine for a wide range of dog sizes.

Does anyone know how liability works?
I'd use the best quality products I can find, but obviously I can't do any actual testing.

If someone used one of my car tethers, got in an accident, and it didn't work, could they hold me responsible?

I was planning to write some sort of disclaimer.

I researched it more. I'd need liability insurance and it looks expensive.

Do you live near a school with a law center? I would look into getting some free legal advice to see if liability insurance would really be necessary if you don't market the tether as a "safety" product, and if you include a disclaimer.

Another potential source for legal advice is the Small Business Administration offices in your area, or other free small business advisory groups. I worked with one attached to our local university. Had a personal adviser and access to other resources for information.

Yes, this. People can make their own leap/assumptions in using it as a safety product. You, however, can claim it is merely a tethering product to keep the dog in the seat of the car and attached to the seatbelt and is not meant or intended to be a lifesaving product of any sort. With the proper intended use, I don't see how you could be held liable.

I'm looking into contacting a lawyer or small business place.

From what I'm reading all crafters should have liability insurance, especially soap and candle makers.
My grandmom used to sell ceramics and had to have it in case someone got cut or scratched their furniture with one of her pieces. She also had to have it in case someone got hurt at one of her craft show booths.
