Inside ear hair. Does anyone pull inside ear hair? I heard you should do that to some small breeds. Does anyone do it for yorkies? |
I do it for mine. I didn't start out doing it as part of Kiko's grooming. She got an ear infection and the vet said she had too much hair in her ears and it didn't allow air flow. He plucked her ears (and gave her antibiotics) and showed me how to do it. If your dog has really hairy ears, you might want to ask your vet about it. |
My vet says it has to be done. So I do it for Callie and she can grow a lot of ear hair. The ear hair will hold on to moisture and cause ear infections if you don't pluck it. |
my past 3 yorkies had no hair in ears, my poodle did, always was plucking fur out, poodles have floppy ears holds moisture and cause's ear infections. Yorkies with stand up ears usually do not have a lot of fur in their ears, so it depends on your dog, if you see excessive fur with-in the ear pluck it out, better to be safe then sorry. |
I have never done it for any of my 3 and they've never had any issues bc of it. Also, hair does have some purpose in the ear, just like the hair in our ears has a purpose...so I personally don't believe in doing it. If you feel you must, just don't pluck it so there is no hair...the hair is there to protect the ear and to catch foreign particles. |
My vet said Lilah doesn't have much hair in her ears, so she doesn't need it done |
Yes, we pluck the hair from their ears. Sophie actually seems to like it as she holds perfectly still. |
My vet said not to pull the hair. |
Always when doing my daily brushing a grab a few hairs and pluck. Fast and quick so doesn't bother them. |
