RescueMe.Org I have tried to search for info on this group on YT but found nothing, (not sure I was searching correctly  ) but has anyone had experience with this group? or know if they are a reputable group to deal with? I have been considering a friend for charlie for awhile now and want adopt rescue but do not want to get involved in a poorly reputable group. I dont want to use Craigslist or just use the local newspaper because I have read horrible stories of how using these ways have turned out for others. Any help is appreciated. :) |
This is not a group....they list for other groups apparently. I don't know anything about them. I would suggest starting out looking on Petfinder.com for a pup. YOu can search using your zip code and find the closest adoptables in your area. Most rescues list their pups on Petfinder. Of course you still should check out the group a pup is with. Good luck in your search! |
Good luck in finding a new sibling for Charlie. (I say sibling because if it's a girl Charlie already has a girlfriend!!!) Getting a second dog was the best thing I ever did for Dolly. It also gives me peace of mind if I ever have to leave them alone. I know many people who've gotten wonderful dogs off of Craigslist. I don't mean puppies being sold by backyard breeders, but people who are rehoming their pet. Most people will try to rehome on their own before they bring a dog in to a shelter. Also, word of mouth. Tell everyone one you know, & post on YT about what you're looking for. Good luck finding a sibling for Dolly's boyfriend!! |
We found our second yorkie, Pickles at a rescue on Petfinder.com when he was a year old. We fostered him for about a month, then adopted him when it was clear all was well. So glad we did, he's a sweetie. |

I will be watching this thread as my one kitty Lucy is getting up there in age, and the other two cats don't care for Gizmo but Lucy and him are best friends :-( I know once Lucy leaves us ( which will be heartbreaking as she was from my first feral kitten litter I ever rescued) my Gizmo will be heartbroken. When that time comes I will look for a girl yorkie rescue that will match his age when it happens so he will never be lonely. I rescued Gizmo off of Craigslist and he almost died within the first our I rescued him, but thanks to my awesome vet he pulled through at 9 weeks. This time I will be looking for an amazing rescue to go through. Thanks so much for starting this thread. Have you thought of contacting yorkie haven to see if they know of a reputable rescue center in your area? |
Well this has turned out to be quite a task, finding a yorkie in my area has come to be detective work for sure, I have placed my name on a list at our local shelters in case a yorkie comes in I felt that maybe that would be a good way to go being that if they come to the shelter they will at least be given a once over with a vet (not as detailed as i would have done but...) My mom volunteers at a shelter in her small town so she is on the look out as well, there were two that came in awhile back but they were pups and they went fast. I do not really want a pup though I would like to try and get one close to Charlies age (7) Well just wanted to update :) |
Thanks for updating--I've been wondering. Maybe someone here on YT will come up with something; do you think it would help to put a notice in the "Yorkies for sale or wanted" section? Good luck!!! |
Petfinder . com is a good source of rescue info. You have to be careful because there are scam artiest even in the rescue area. They will try to "sell" you a rescue for some outrageous price. The actual source can be puppy mills and a variety of other sources. Petfinder tries to work with only reputable rescues so it is worth a try. |
