Puppy Obedience
 
Daisy Mae and I are starting puppy obedience classes on Saturday. She is doin very well potty training. Already uses wee, wee pads and (I think) knows her name.. Also, listens to the "come" command... What should I expect at the classes on Saturday? This is my first time in classes, they are put on by the Humane Society..

This is my opinion only, so I could be wrong, but just yesterday you posted the following and I recommend that you not take your pup out and about because it is so young and also because it is sick. I don't know if it could be contagious, but I would be afraid of not only making your puppy sicker; I would be afraid of another young puppy catching it.

Thank you for your opinion. The Vet told me once on antibotics for 7 days that she would not be contagious. Has anyone had any experience with this. I don't want to make her any sicker, obviously, but I thought that having been on antibiotics for 10 days she would be well enough to go. I think that I will touch base with the vet before going just based on your advice. Thanks so much..

I don't think starting classes right now would be the best thing.
Your baby is very young, and should not at any time be on the ground,grass or any other place another dog has been. She's way too young to have had all her Parvo shots. Parvo is something you have to take very seriously. Once a furbaby gets it, many don't make it. I'm surprized your Vet didn't warn you about this. And I'm very surprized the classes are letting you in with such a young pup. :eek:

When you talk to your vet, you might ask him about the fact that she hasn't had all of her shots yet, either. I never took mine around other animals until they had all of their shots. Good luck! :)

Although I am a HUGE advocate of obedience classes, you shouldn't start them until your pup is up-to-date on immunizations. In fact, your pup shouldn't even walk where other dogs have walked until she's had all her shots; she could catch a DEADLY disease!

Usually don't have sufficient immunity until 3-4 weeks after their last shot. But by all means, go to the class. Take the labrador. Classes are more about training the owner than the dog, anyway. :)
