yorkies fighting! :confused:Abby has attacked lallas last night, it was so sudden! Lalla is okay but she didn't understand why her best friend would attack her? Abby has been a bit grumpy lately but surely she wouldn't attack lallas because of it? Now I am so scared to leave them alone together! They have grown up together, abby is a year old and lallas is 14 months, but abby is much more stocky and stronger than lallas so I'm stressed that she will hurt her. Abby is normally a happy puppy. Has this happened to anyone else and what could I do? Abby has been on heat, she isn't pregnant but her nipples are swollen, so that is also stressing me out, could this be why she is attacking lallas? |
Yes it could be |
Bella was quite crabby and aggressive the one time she was in heat. She has been her normal sweet self since being spayed. |
The plan is to get both spayed, unfortunatly we needed to use our savings last month when lallas refused to eat and we had to get tests done, but yes, we are trying to make a plan. The thing that is really making me stressed is the fact that females will kill! They havnt had another fight and I'm hoping they won't! But already this morning I saw abby was trying to intimidate lallas by standing over her and being stiff. |

I hope I won't have to rehome abby, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my babies, but I will see what happens, she is doing much better today though, she seems to be the alpha dog, I will get her spayed and see how things go then but I pray that she will stop her nonsense! Shame zoey sounds like she is dynamite in a very small package! Cute! |

Yes I think it does help, my male yorkie is neutered and the females control him, they even try take the treats away from him, and he would let them if I didn't stop it! Before he was neutered he was a real little ball of naughtiness! He would pick on my old boy maltese and run out the gate. I think it helps a lot cos they don't produce so many hormones after they get sterilised. Hope that helps you a bit, I understand the financial issues, times are tough and it seems something always happens that takes all the money that is saved for something important! My two girls would of been spayed last month already. |

Females in heat are a real and dangerous threat to other females in the home....you must keep the separated when one is in heat....the female in heat will attack and will or can actually try to fight to the death with the female that is not in heat. This is a common problem breeders are faced with....the females will fight more viciously than the males!! Keep them separated until you can get them spayed....at least try to do the oldest one first...I dont think you will have to rehome anyone once they are spayed. Just dont give them the opportunity to do any "trash talking" to each other....I have two females that can walk into the same space at the same time, and within 2 seconds, they are trying to kill each other..... |
Ooooh this is scary, well I spoke to my husband last nite and told him that this is now dangerous and we gonna have to make a plan, we have them on pet medical aid, and I looked through the policy to see if they help with sterilisations, but they don't! So the plan is to sell some stuff, then we can get them done sooner, abby is the youngest now at 13 months, she is the one that's starting the fights, shouldn't we do her first? Hopefully we can get both spayed together though! |

No unfortunately we don't have things like that, the shelters do cheaper prices for the sqautter camps but not for us, here in south africa its not going so great for a lot of people, but I will make a plan, I have to, don't want my babies to fight and lallas is small, she is 1.8 kg. But so very petite, she didn't have a good start to life, we got her when she was 5 months old, and she was so very thin! And sick aswell, with the intestinal virus, she is finally healthy and happy, but still very petite, so I will do anything to keep her and abby best friends! Abby is a lot stronger than her, quite a fat little pup! But she would be able to do some damage to lallas I think! |
If you can only do one at a time, yes, get the more aggressive one done first....she is 13 months old and she should be coming into her second heat cycle soon. How long have you been using this particular vet? Will he consider a payment plan? It wont hurt to ask....wishing you the best of luck....it can be done....I was where you are, at one time, and I was selling stuff off my walls and books and records and even broken gold jewelry......it is tuff but you sound like you are determined to do what is in your baby's best interest! |
