Have you felt your dog's neck/throat when they bark? I accidentally felt Turbo's throat when he was barking bc he was freaking out when he saw a dog walking by when we were in the car:rolleyes: loll & I felt a balloon like bubble on his throat whenever he barked! Is that how it's supposed to be? So I felt Momo's throat when we drove by someone on a bicycle (he always barks @ the people on the bicycle, he thinks it's strange) & didn't feel anything...is something wrong w/Turbo's throat or Momo's throat? I can't test on Mimi & Princess bc I don't know when they're gonna bark. Turbo has a very loud bark, Momo's is not as loud, maybe that's why? Of course, I googled & not sure if I'm not inserting the right words on search but couldn't find anything. |
Hmmm, interesting w/ Turbo. I will have to feel my dogs' throats now when they bark! I will let you know what it feels like. Of course, now that I want them to bark...they won't for days. But when I don't want them to bark it's all barkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbark! |
Haha! It's impossible to know when my girls will bark, usu it's when someone comes to visit, but when I put my hand on their throat, they'll stop barking. Thinking of calling the vet office(s) & ask bc I really want to know! Where's Crystal?:D |
I have felt the neck and chest muscles expand and contract, but I don't recall a bubble like feeling. Going to have to pay more attention. Maybe it is just the way he barks? Max is more throaty, whereas Teddy reaches deep into his chest/stomach -- how they teach singers or public speakers. I'm not sure how to explain it properly. |
Same with Maximo. I've felt those areas when Magnus barks but I don't really remember any bubble feeling. I think I was more drawn to the vibration. LOL Speaking of barking... Can you tell what emotions are going through your furbutt's mind by the way/pitch of his barks?! For Magnus, he does the deep/throaty bark when he's in protection mode. It gets little high pitched if he's barking out of annoyance. Cracks me up sometimes. |

Ok, I'm getting worried now...have a feeling it's not normal. Called my vet, waiting on him to call me back. There's def a pocket of bubble that pops out when he barks. It's about 1 1/2- 2" in diameter (maybe smaller but I exaggerate everything in my mind, dramatic that way:p)...kinda like how a frog's throat expands when it ribbits. Leave it up to Turbo to have another weird affliction! Ok, vet office just called as I was typing this, they said Turbo needs to be seen.:( |

hoping Turbo is ok and it is nothing serious. :( |
Praying for Turbo that it is nothing, just an unusual quirk. |
Well... good news is that you found something that you probably wouldn't have. I hope it's not too serious. |
I rub Alfie's throat to try and sooth him when he is freaking out at the window cleaner / postman. I don't feel any swelling. Hope your lil guy is ok and it is just an oddity, I look forward to hearing the all clear from your vet. |
