New Member Hi Everyone, I have a 2 year old male yorkie, he is so much fun to have around. I got him when he was 6 months old from a pet store in Patterson nj. He looked so old and fragile, since then he has been groomed and looking like a yorkie should look. My only concern I have with him is that he is very edgy, he gets scared very quickly, he also shakes a lot when he is scared. I keep thinking that maybe the pet place where I brought him, they didn't treat him very well. He seems traumatized sometimes. I have a vet and she said he seems well, however, he continues to jump at any weird noise. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Focus, nj. |
I don't have any suggestions but I'm sure others will...Welcome to YT!!! |
my suggestion would be time. but also your sure his anal glands are not full? sometimes they get real shaky and strange when they need them expressed. just a thought. my lola did not come from a good situation...it took 6 months for her to bark...and let's see almost two years for her to let me rub her belly and she does still jump or freak at sounds she is not familiar with. I find picking her up and showing her where the noise is coming from sometimes helps while soothing her as best as possible. I know when she needs her anal glands expressed because she will ride her butt on the floor or hide in the laundry room or my closet....I have blankets out for her in this spots as they are also her safe havens for when she is scared along with her stroller. time and more time to learn to trust you. welcome to yt and hope this might help a little bit. |
Focus Thank you so much for much for your suggestions. I really appreciate it a lot. I do take him to get his anal glands done. I will give him all the time he needs. We give him a lot of love n cuddling. Thanks again. Focus |
