Soft Stool I am just curious...it's been a long time since I had a puppy. Stella my 4.5 month old was doing fabulous she never pooped in her house. This weekend all changed she got a bit of loose stool and all weekend soiled in her crate over night. I have been putting rice in her food to get it to solidify again but it is still soft and she seems to like to poop at night. I have had it tested no worms etc. Food is Innova puppy been on it for about 1 month. Any ideas or suggestions? |
Have you tried pumpkin? I think that's the most recommended for loose stool. If she's not showing any other signs of her not being well, perhaps you should consider keeping her on a bland diet. Chicken breast and/or rice. What was she on before Innova? Even though she's been on it for 1 month, it's not agreeing with her tummy. |
She was actually on what I got from the breeder which was a mix of Innova and 2 other foods. But the Innova in the mix was adult food. I have been mixing rice with her food for now. Innova is high in protein was thinking of mixing the puppy with the adult Innova like she was on and just ween her to adult Innova. I was just putting it out there for ideas since it is nothing medical. |

Never heard of Innova or any one mixing three foods together for a puppy and the adult food is just that, for adult dogs. As a breeder myself I know how important it is for a puppy to get the proper nutrition and extra calcium during the first year of life. With these issues your pups is having this may be an opportunity for you to choose just one kibble a good puppy food preferably just one of the ones being mixed in and get her switched over to that, Gradually of course. Stress can trigger diarrhea with any dog young or old. If your household has had some change in environment or structure even time spent with the pup it can trigger stress and than diarrhea. Make sure that with the diarrhea your pup is getting lot and lots of water so that she does not become dehydrated. But, If the upset still continues you may need to have her tested for other issues. You can also try Pepto Bismal or Pepcid AC to help. Walmart had a generic for of the Pepcid called Famotidine. I want to stress that you be sure to call your vet to get the proper dose before giving any over the counter meds. |
