Huge big weird bump on Uni's head is now dissolving??? I have a ball bearing ruler at the shop. Her bump on her head was measuring at 1/4" ball bearings (1/4" in diameter) pretty big. Yesterday morning I noticed it was considerable smaller, and this morning, almost completely gone. What gives? She has had this bump/cyst on her head for most of a year. It did not turn black and fall off like the one on her foot. It's 1/8" to 3/16" at most now. Shrinking by the hour! Anyone had this experience before? |
No ideas other than it might have been a liquid filled cyst that has started resorbing? What did the vet say it was? Resorption sounds better than turning black and falling off! I had a lab mutt years ago that popped up a ping pong ball sized knot on his neck/throat area, and when the vet did the needle biopsy, it turned out to be a fluid filled cyst that he drained completely and never came back, although prior to the biopsy, it felt like a solid mass, not a cyst. |
Callie's that was turning black turned back to flesh color and is almost completely gone. Bumps are weird. |

My Gina had a bump under her chin. The vet said it was harmless. It was there for several Yeats and one day I noticed blood on her neck. Seems that she was scratching the area and broke the bump. All gone. |

The black one that fell off.. Started fles colored. The vet took a sample w a needle. I guess the blood under the skin turned it black. But the size of the bump stayed the same for long time. Over a year I think. I would check on it every day or so. One day it was just gone! No scar, scab or blood. Like it was ever there. |

This also happened to my Quincy. But my dogs have so many odd bumps and lumps (cysts) its just crazy. Vet says they are harmless but they just keep getting bigger and multiplying. Makes it really hard to groom them. I've accidently cut one with the clippers. There was this other one that started out being a bump and with time had the waxy stuff on it and the bump seems to be empty now but is still there. Strange and mysterious in deed but as long as those nasty unhealthy, cancerous ones stay away I'm fine with it. Priscilla: Could have been a blocked pore like a pimple. |
Very mysterious. Glad it is disappearing. Max has had a couple of tiny bumps that went away on their own. |

I was gonna say maybe she bumped her head somewhere, but she had it for almost a year...this is link has all the different bumps, the list is long! Causes of Solid-Appearing Lumps & Bumps on the Skin of Dogs Glad it's gone! |
Follicular cysts are one of the great mysteries of the world :p. Really though, some of them just stick around forEVER, needing to be removed...while others stick around the same way, but then shrink. So weird. |
