Good luck with him then! Luckily little dogs only make little messes. The messiest part of Maggie is that she leaves her toys everywhere because she is a very spoiled pup. Assuming he is a yorkie or a yorkie mixed with another non-shedder he shouldn't be messy in that way. I can't stop my Debbie Downer ways today....watch what you feed him. The chicken meat is ok, but the skin is very fatty (for people too!). Try to take it easy on the people food. There are a lot of stories about pancreatitis on these boards which I think is caused by a fatty diet, but I'm not sure. A favorite treat of most dogs I know is chicken jerky. You should do a search on it and I suggest buying a cheap dehydrator on craigslist or Amazon and making your own. It saves me a lot of $ over buying it. Enjoy your new baby. He will give you unconditional love and won't talk back, but he will always beg you to play and give him treats. Not too much different from the skin kids is it? (the second part!) |

I am very happy Oscar found you. It always breaks my heart when I see a stray. When I was a kid my brother and I always cleaned the house really well when we wanted to keep a cat. Maybe your wife will come around eventually. We go to the Garden Grove Dog and Cat Hospital. Very good staff and fair prices. If you just need shots and cheaper neuter go to the Humane Society down the street. |

Beware of any dog food and treats made in China. There have been many pet deaths linked to Chinese chicken jerky. |

Won'tt talk back??? nobody told this to my Cody. He HATES the word NO and will ARGUE with me when I tell him NO. Cody is a talker, a BIG TIME talker, and answers back ALL THE TIME, lol, I love it, and LOVE my newly adopted lil boy. |
So glad to hear that you took him in and hoping that everything works out! Welcome to YT! Post pictures when you can. Eight months is a very fun stage with these little pups! Enjoy! |
I wanted to say thank you for making a search for his owner. They can slip away so quickly. I know I would never quit trying to find one of mine so if they are looking and you are looking for them if he is truly wanted back I feel like you will find one another. |
Welcome to YT and THANK YOU for taking him in! I guess it was meant to be considering how your wife didn't want a dog. I've heard that having a dog teaches the kids what responsibility really means and I think it's very true. If you're looking to save costs, grooming the puppy at home is one way to go. But I guess that depends on how often you intend on grooming. As far as keeping the home "clean" I wipe my two down as soon as we come back from outside with baby wipes (use either for sensitive skin or alcohol/scent free). Keeps the dust/allergens away. |
Just got back from the vet, oscar is now up to date on his vaccination, working on insurance and microchip (everyplace around here $45, I found a place for $28 but they only do one a month |
