Did anyone ever make washable potty pads? So, Snoopy and Sally have decided they don't like to step on the papery potty pads. Or else they're trying to save us money by not using them. . . Has anyone ever made washable puppy pads? Are they waterproof on the back? Do you use a separate waterproof pad? I was looking at the homemade diaper section at joann's. Would that work? |
Yes, Cathy does (107barney), but I don't know her formula. |
The washable pads I bought do have waterproof backings, so that the pee doesn't soak onto the floor. I'm sure Joanne or some other fabric store would carry some sort of backing fabric. If you had the right fabric, I'd bet they'd be really easy to make since they're just a square shape. |
I bought my supply of waterproof and washable potty pads from EZWhelp.com The prices are excellent and the product is wonderful. I've now had them for about 3 months and they still look brand new. I've already saved the amount that I would have spent on disposable potty pads. My puppies were shredding the disposables and costing me a fortune every day. I use the ones with the brown top and white bottom from EZWhelp. |

I have washables from EZ whelp too. I've never tried making my own, but I have sewn my own fabric on top of the bought pads, so they coordinate better with my home interior. |
Joann's sell PUL, which is used for bibs, cloth diaper covers and baby changing pads. I have some but it doesn't seem to be the same fabric used on the back if the washable pads I have purchased from Cathy and from petsmart and petco. I would like to make my own (especially since we are adding a puppy to the family, possibly 2 if I can't find a home for Lark) because they do run on the expensive side, but haven't tried and haven't been able to find an adequate pattern or instructions online. I have noticed that unless I launder them twice they still have a smell to them. I've started putting them outside in the sun to dry but it's icy here today so they're going into the dryer. |
Thanks for all the input! I'll definitely be checking these ideas out. |
I have bought several from here... Washable puppy pee pad photos of sample Doggie Pee Pads I can't say enough good things about the quality of these pads. Before I found these, I purchased others from various places and none are the quality of these. |
I use washable ones from EZWhelp too. I've had mine for a year and they still look great. |
Change in plans--based on everyone's recommendations, I've decided to just buy them. I've ordered a couple from T. Bumpkins and some from EZ whelp. Fingers crossed that the "kids" will like them.:p Thanks everyone! |
