Trying to choose an insurance company--Healthy Paws or Pet Plan I think I've narrowed it down to these 2 Can anyone tell me anything about these 2 that would help me choose one over the other? It's for a young puppy if that matters thanks! |
I think each plan is different. I have Embrace, and for my needs that was the best fit. A friend has pet plan and likes it and another has trupanion and likes that. So it really depends on how you want to do the coverage, deductible, etc. Good luck! |
I also need insurance info, so subscribing to this post. Thanks. |
I have pet plan. It takes about a month to get your money and the deductibles are for each incident. Check their plan carefully. |
Im leaning towards healthy paws......for a policy with a $250 annual deductible and 80% reimbursement it would cost me $30.74/mth PetPlan is $200 per incident deductible, 80% reimbursement for $26.54/mth OR if I change the deductible to $100 it is $36.90/mth |
I have pet plan and have had it for years so I wouldn't dare change because of pre-existing conditions. But, hind sight, I wish I would have found a plan that included preventative care because just routine cleanings and blood work for 4 at a time is quite a chunk of money! |
We have Healthy Paws , but have not had to use it. I liked that there was no yearly limit. |
they are both good companies, what ever is best suited for you, I have pets best |
I'm going with healthy paws i think. How long before I can use it to get Kuzco neutered? |
I have Healthy Paws - I haven't had to use it yet, but I don't think it will cover spay/neuter. If I'm not mistaken it was one of the things I looked up when I was researching it. |
My little beau is on petplan, £36p/m, that is the premium for life,,beau has ct, they paid out for specialist within 2weeks, I cannot fault them, because that one is for life they continue to pay out for ongoing treatment for life If u got a yearly plan, they only cover for that illness up to the year and after that they won't cover same illness so it is better to get the life cover, hope this helps |
I saw this while reading through reviews. Thought it might help for those that are considering. Pet Insurance Comparison 2014: Are You Ready For a Vet Emergency? I'm leaning towards petplan. |
Lola is three and so far healthy as an ox but who knows what's down the pike, this thread got me to do what I have been putting off for a year or two. I just bit the bullet and bought insurance through Pet Plan. I got the $100.00 deductible per condition and 100% coverage, it's about $40.00 a month. I figure $7.00 more a month is not that much considering what 20% out of pocket for some high cost procedure could be. The only thing is, specialists areonly 80% unless it's a result of an emergency that would cause the need to go to the after hours vet. Not to open a can of worms, but LOL I will, the guy told me because Lola is a yorkie mix she is a little cheaper to insure since they see less inherited health issues with mixes than with the purebreds. |

I'm in the same boat as you on putting this off. But I haven't bite the bullet yet. Their comprehensive exam will be due somewhere around June so I think I'll purchase the insurance right around that time. I picked which plan I wanted and have it saved in the cart so when the time comes, I just need to purchase. |
I started with PetPlan and was at first satisfied - then they started raising their rates, A LOT. And they do base their raises partially on how much ins you've used. When their rates became ridiculous, I then switched to Healthy Paws - I chose HP out of a bunch bc of how they do their deductibles and how they raise their rates. |
