Yorkie Rescue I recently came across a yorkie for sale that is 7 years old and from a "breading farm." It is breaking my heart that these people are trying to make more money off this poor dog. I would like to get her and give her a better home but I don't have a lot of funds and worry if I get her and she has a lot of health problems I wont be able to get her the care she needs. My question is, what are some things that could possibly be wrong with a dog that has been used for breeding for so long? Thank you. |
Any rescue organization will and should charge something to adopt a dog. It often costs them WAY more to rehab/treat the dog than what they're actually charging you. As far as health, the rescue org should have a very, very good handle on the dog's physical and mental health - any rescue worth its salt would know lots of details about the dog. A dog that has been part of a puppy mill could have things wrong w/ it's feet (if it lived in a wire bottom crate etc), teeth (due to lack of care), skin, overall nutrition/health, weight/body condition, abdominal tone (due to over breeding)...etcetera. Not to mention mental health issues. BUT, all of these things can be overcome by proper vet care and lots of TLC. SO many people here have former Mill dogs, and they heal so beautifully. Have you met the dog yet, do you feel a certain bond w/ her if you've met her? |
Is she getting her from a rescue or is she rescuing her from a breeding farm?? |
I doubt they did health testing so she could have any number of things luxating patella, Collapsing trachea, the list goes on and she probably has never had shots and needs a dental and to be spayed. Can this puppy farm be reported to animal control? |
I found out the girls aunt bought the dog but gave it to the girl. She doesn't have time for the yorkie so she is trying to sell it. She has decided to keep her now. |
