I am overprotective! Cricket weighs 8 lbs but when I go outside with her, she goes on her leash and harness, even in my own fenced in backyard! I live with my parents and we have two other big dogs. We keep baby gates in a couple of doorways of our house. One being my bathroom, and one being my room. Sometimes, one of the gates gets moved to the doorway that leads into our kitchen, so Cricket has the hallway and bathroom to run around in. we have a woman that has come and dealt with our two big dogs before when we travel and the past couple of times we have gone out of town, we have taken Cricket with us.This friend will come and deal with all 3 dogs for the first time soon! I'm worried because it's kinda crazy the way we deal with all of our dogs. I hope everything goes well. |
Watson is a little beauty. |
I am over protective. Maybe not in the way a lot of people on YT are (I have no problem letting Jax off leash, or play with other dogs, and I let him play in lakes, pools, etc, and he can go wild and jump on/off things and I don't even blink an eye LOL) ... BUT, I am over protective in the sense that I won't leave him with anyone except my dad for overnight stays, or my mom if I'm going to just be gone for one day or something. I would never trust anyone else to watch him. I keep an eye on his health like crazy, and spoil him rotten. I truly love him like he's my child (but I do realize he's a dog! lol) |

Watson is adorable! I'm so protective that when I am out, I call home to ask dad how the doggies are. :D |
Yup, you can add both me and Denise to the overprotective club. When we both are at work and Bell is home alone, we take the little stairs up to the couch away, we seal off rooms and the kitchen and we make sure that there is little to nothing that she can get into or do to hurt herself until we return. This little girl has wormed her way into my life so completely that I will do anything, anything in my power to keep her safe, healthy and happy. |
I live in a big city and worry all the time, especially since stealing dogs seems to be all to common here, and toy breeds, especially Yorkies are in high demand. I don't think you are paranoid at all, you are just overly cautious, and the way the world is today, you have to be. Quote:

Hi there, Yes, I do worry about my baby (Milo). I always make sure that he is on his leash; never let him go out on the deck or in the yard by himself even though I have a fenced in yard. You never know when a hawk might mistake him for a rabbit & they can kill a little one in a heartbeat. There is also the possibility of a snake even though I live in a subdivision where they are rarely seen in yards---but again, the possibility is there. I love that boy so much that I will not take any chance of anything happening to him that I think can be prevented. |
Some of you know my story...... there is not safe fence (wood)...... in less of 5 minutes I lost my beloved Bella to a pit-bull that dig a hole into my backyard.....:( |
