Doodlebug | 02-13-2014 08:44 AM | Question about puppy growth My husband and I were discussing how much Daisy changed between 7 weeks old and 8 weeks old when she was a puppy. We first saw her at 5 weeks and she was a little black haired cutie with a calm personality. We visited her at 6 and 7 weeks and she was pretty much the same. When we went to pick her up at 8 weeks old to bring her home her looks had changed so much we were astonished. Her thick cotton hairs had fluffed out and she looked like a little powder puff. When her breeder handed her to me she was so squirmy that I could barely hold her. At the time we didn't think she was a different puppy but just the other day we were talking and wondering if she was a different puppy than the one we actually bought. The breeder only had two Yorkies and one litter which was a smaller boy and larger girl pup which was our Daisy. He did make mention that his family wanted to keep the girl pup but he wanted to sell her.
My question is this. Does a puppy usually change that much in appearance and personality between 7 and 8 weeks of age? If he did swap another puppy for Daisy I think it was the luckiest swap in the world because we love her to pieces. But still we wonder. We now know that 8 weeks was early to bring her home but that was 10 years ago and he said his vet approved the pups to go then and she turned out fine. |
