"Zeutering" What are your thoughts? http://news.yahoo.com/video/zeuterin...074119653.html Seems like by the video the dogs are totally awake during the procedure. Perhaps people who like Neuticles (I'm looking at you Kim K) will do this? What are your thoughts? |
Chemical castration? As in it burns their insides or how exactly does that work? |
Never heard of this...what are the long term effects, if any & how safe is this procedure? How does it work I wonder...googled & here they say it makes them sterile after a month & long term effects are still being researched. Zeutering: Now FDA Approved Chemical Castration for Dogs | The Dogington Post Wonders why FDA already approved it if the long term effects are still being researched? |
I'm not a fan. I am thinking this is in the same vein as non anesthesia dental cleaning. Looks like what you were supposed to do, but actually does more harm than good. |
I'll stick with 'neutering' |
Wow, this has potential to be utterly amazing bc any time you can perform something awake that previously required anesthesia, it is a real win and is important. I'd need more proof/info/details here, but it could really be meaningful ... think of what this could do for shelter animals, feral cats etc - ! It would drastically decrease the cost of traditional care and make the money available for other things in the shelter and/or more feral cats. |
Here is information from a vet which explains the procedure. Suffolk Veterinary Group Animal Wellness & Laser Surgery Center - Veterinarian In Selden, NY USA :: About Zeuterin Neuter |
Interesting. I would need to know more about it. I'm all for optional surgery's if people do that, like vasectomy's, etc. But I think this particular procedure would be good for shetler dogs. Me? I don't like balls on my dog, so... I'd prefer to get them removed LOL... |
It's interesting. I think it provides and excellent solution for rescues and shelters when it comes adopting dogs out and lowering the chance that someone might breed them. Also helpful for those in low income homes. However I wouldn't subject Draco to it.Maybe those owners with tiny guys might like this idea rather than worrying about their 3lb boy being under anesthesia. I saw that only half the testosterone disappear after zeutered. So I'm curious on how pups that are zeutered compare with those that were neutered, and those that are still in tact when it comes to marking, dominating, being around other male dogs who are intact, running away, and such. |
It is an interesting idea but there's several things about it that turn me off. I'm with those that wouldn't use the option. I'm much too wary of the dangers to even contemplate the procedure. That said, it'll certainly be something to watch the progress of. |
