bangs Kari has very long bangs . I tried to put them up with a dog hair tie but she ruins it. Her bangs are in front of her face so she can't see.any ideas. |
If she won't keep a band in her hair the only suggestion I would have would be to cut it. You could always give her a brow shelf similar to what they do on Schnauzers. How does she ruin it? When I first got Piper that is what the groomer did to her because it just hung in her eyes, but I was brand new to Yorkies and let her do what she wanted. Now that I know what I want my groomer won't quit cutting between her eyes so now I'm going to be a self groomer. |
If you don't want a topknot then learn how to trim but you will have to do it frequently in order to keep hair out of her eyes. Did you use a tiny grooming band to put the hair up or something else? |
2 Attachment(s) If you don't want to grow it into a topknot, you could trim her bangs short and a little spikey. That's what I do with my Pixie. It is a nice clean look. If you do want the topknot then you can try clipping them back until you can grow them out enoughto secure in a band. |
If you want to grow them, Target has little heart barrettes that work really well. I used them until Lola's bangs were long enough to stay up. Goody 12Ct Small Heart Contour Clips : Target Mobile |

When my pups were learning to deal with top knots I had to only use the little plastic rubber bands that I used for my daughters hair when they were babies. Just make sure to cut them out each night so the hair doesn't break. They will begin to ignore them and then you can use scrunchies or barrettes. |
I get the non latex bands on Amazon. They are 1/4" which is just the right size to get small amounts of hair into. You will spend about $11 for 500 bands that will last you at least a couple of years on just one dog. Here is a link for anyone interested: ![]() If you put one or two of these in to hold the hair you can then put in a bow or clip and it won't slide out. Clips and bows can be a choking hazard if not secure. The bands help to do that. There are pictures and a video that show how to best place the bands and bows in securely.
