teacup yorkie? If my yorkie is 10 months old and she weighs 3 pounds. Is that a teacup yorkie? |
Sorry, no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie. That's a term greedy breeders use for marketing to make money. |
yeah that's what I though cause a lot of people says she is a "teacup" but shes normal weight right? |
Toy dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Here's a summary.... a yorkie is not a "toy yorkie" or a "teacup yorkie".... a yorkie might be a toy breed or in the teacup size but... the two names don't go together. Teacup yorkie or toy yorkie don't go together... it's a yorkie. wiki has a pretty decent summary as to why.... poor health and poor breeders ethics. |
To answer your question, your yorkie is going to be small. There are people that refer to yorkies under 5 lbs as 'teacup yorkies'. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America frowns on it's members for using the phrase 'teacup' in describing a yorkie. It is mostly unknowledgeable breeders or breeders that just don't care what others think that use that term in order to attract people that are looking for the smaller yorkies. |
There is no such thing as a teacup it was a word made up by bad breeders to jack up the price of there pups. A yorkie is just a yorkie from 1 pound to 20 or more. |
The standard for the breed of Yorkshire Terrier and if you plan to show them is 7 pounds or less. That being said they are many lovely Yorkies who are outside the standard and are wonderful pets :D |
That's right. There is no such thing as a "tea cup Yorkie." There are under sized and over sized but "tea cup" is just a marketing term used by people who are trying to charge too much for their pups. |
I've been asked by people if my 8 lb baby is a teacup. :p Sometimes I don't think the public that searches for teacups know what the word means. ;) But yes, I agree with the others. There is no such thing as a "teacup," just a Yorkie. Some are sighing standard (size wise, color wise, coat texture. Etc) and some aren't. My Kaji is all around off standard but a love bug! Wouldn't change anything about him. |
