Shampoo I use Minksheen for my dogs and love it. I have one with a cotton coat (poodle/Yorkie mix) and another with a straighter coat (Biewer) . It makes both coats look great. |
I use the Bobbi Painter Natural Shampoo and Conditioner at home; it's at our local pet store. They say how gentle their products are...don't strip all the oils from the doggy's hair or skin, etc. I also have their brand of detangler spray, and as they will tell you, it does not take much detangler--just a few spritzes. I use it mainly on the ends of Taff's hair. The Puppy Spa Groomers Shop (which is located beside our local Pet Store) uses an oatmeal, sensitive skin shampoo and conditioner -- I take Taffy to them every so often. I dropped him off there this Monday, and he came out with a cute little green & paisley print bandana around his neck. (My husband likes the 'bandanas' instead of the 'bows'. Ha! Men!!) Taff smelled so yummy! (I gave the groomer Taff's own bottle of Tearless Puppy Shampoo just to use around his face. It is made by the Arm & Hammer Co. of all people! It never seems to bother his eyes at all...although I try to keep any shampoo out of his eyes, if possible.) ** Happy Bath Time from Sue and Taffy ** |
Best Shampoos Has anyone used any of the Envirogroom products. If so, which shampoos and conditioners did you like best. I have a Yorkie with skin issues.:aimeeyork |
Right now I am alternating between John Paul Super Bright Shampoo and Viva la dog spa Petite puppy shampoo every week on Leroy and for his face I use the Spa Lavish Blueberry Facial Cleanser, they leave his coat soft. Though, I want to try the Chris Christensen Spectrum ten to see how that works, I've read good things about it. |
If your Yorkie has "skin issues", I would ask your vet to recommend a good medicated shampoo. We had to get a prescription shampoo years ago for our old dog when he developed crusty skin sores from kidney problems, poor guy. You did not say what skin problems he/she has in your email. Your dog may need mild shampoos that don't dry out his skin. The local dog groomer uses a shampoo with oatmeal and other gentle cleansing ingredients, but I do Taffy's hair at home too. (See my posted note above about these products.) I remembered our vet and breeder saying not to use "human shampoos"; they could strip the moisture from a doggie's skin and hair. Also, some human shampoos contain chemicals & fragrances that could be irritating to a dog's skin. |
The best shampoo is the one that works best for your dog is just trial and error really i tried many before I found one that i liked the results of |
