New to thread and Tink is expecting [COLOR="Magenta"]Hello I'm the mother of two precious furbabies Tink and Polo. Tink is expecting, we were not expecting this nor were we prepared for this either. But we are trying to get ready now. Myself and my husband were on our honeymoon the end of November the beginning of December. Upon arriving my mom did not tell me that Tink went into her heat, and that there was a tie. Well the middle of January I noticed Tink was getting a little on the heavy side and her teats were sticking out. I contacted my mom to see if she had a heat because I knew she hadn't had one with me or I would of kept her and Polo separated. To my surprise she did have one and when she walked in her living they were tied. I instantly started crying, only because I know I was not ready for this so please everyone don't beat me down I'm already hurt and feel irresponsible. I was only worried about myself and getting married. I should have waited to get married or had my honeymoon later. Now I don't know when she is due I'm just a wreck emotionally. I took her to the vet and he palpitated four. Test came back fine. Her temperature is fluctuating, 97.9 last night this morning 96.5 and at 10:54 she is at 98.9. She still has a small appetite, she refuse to sleep in her whelping box but is laying around a lot unless I move, then she moves. The puppies are doing summersaults. I have read online and I have been asking breeders and just like my vet said let nature take it course. I have everything listed for a whelping kit even things for myself. [/ COLOR] |
Hi and Welcome to YT! I'm not a breeder, but from what I've read the pups will start moving the final days, and expect to whelp within 24 hours of temp drop. So I hope you planning on being home all weekend. Your vet couldn't give you any idea of a due date? Did he X-ray her? Do you have him on speed dial? Also an ER Vet on speed dial (just in case). What size yorkie is she normally (when not pregnant)? What size is the sire? Praying all goes well.... check out the Breeders forum for more info.... |
WELCOME to YT! Wishing you the very best for the whelping. It sounds like you've studied a lot, which is a good thing. Do you have an emergency plan? Ie, what you're supposed to do if the whelping starts to go wrong...is there an after hours vet you can take her or does your own vet have an ER etcetera? |
She is 6 pounds and no he didn't do X-rays I really want one just to be sure you know. But he gave me his after hour number and his home number he also said he will make a house call if needed. But I have the er numbers and some other numbers as well. Polo is 3.5 pounds. |

From Dec 1, today is day 63, and they can be early or a bit late, but I'd be staying home today for sure. |

I would want to get an x-ray as well. I'd want to have an idea of how many babies to expect so if any didn't come out, I'd know that I need to take her into the vets for assistance. |
You need to look up and research the signs of distress to know when she needs help. Most small dogs require help when whelping. |
If you have not already asked, you might ask admin to move your thread to the breeders section or start a new thread in the breeders section. |
