Six Month Yorkie Baby Girl. Hi guys!! New to this website and everyone seemed so friendly and lovely!! Couldn't resist joining. I just wanted to ask a few questions about my little Girl, She's called Belle, just under six months old and is amazing. I've always had Golden Retrievers and Yorkies were always a breed I loved. After moving to London last year, I couldn't cope without a little bundle of fur running around but due to having a smaller flat I couldn't have a retriever, So Belle came into my life and she has brought so much joy for such a tiny little thing. I'm assuming she is half teacup as her Daddy was a teacup and Mummy normal size. I've never had a girl before and I'm just wondering as to when I can expect her to go into season? Also, after we go for walks, we get home and she goes mad, She scratches all four paws across the floor, I can only describe this as if she was doing like a bull run. Lastly, her front "fang" as I'd call it, Her baby one is still there however her adult one has grown through just behind it. Will the baby one eventually fall out or should I get this seen to? Thank you so much in advance, and I look forward to getting to know you all. Charliey:aimeeyork xx |
Welcome to YT!!!! Not really sure about when her first "heat" will be. We had Shelby spayed at about 9 months.... many vets will check the teeth and if there are some "2nd row" teeth that are still there, they will remove them at the same time they are spayed. Hope this helps! |
Welcome! You will get lots of wonderful info on here. First thing.. There are no teacups, that is a bad breeder marketing term. Second, she could could start her first heat anytime. Are you going to have her spayed? If so, the vet should remove any baby teeth at that time. |
Welcome! Congratulations on getting little Belle. Most of mine came into heat around 8 months of age. some can come into season a little sooner or a little later. Almost all of mine came into heat days before their scheduled spay. Usually, when they are spayed the vet will check for any retained baby teeth and remove them during the spay. When mine get excited they do what sounds like what you are describing. I call it their moonwalking. |
hi there: my Jake will be 6 months old tomorrow and he lost one of his baby *fangs* (what are those called anyway? canines??) just a week or so ago but the other is still there...it's loose and i think he will lose it any day now...his permanent ones are growing in... he's already lost the bottom ones though :) your Belle is a cutie! Thanks for the replies everyone, means a lot. YES!!! Moon walking is exactly what it's like, great analysis :-) I think they're canines, at the time I couldn't think of the word:D She's ever so, "randy", too. Constantly humping her ducky or my arm, If I am correct is this a dominance thing? I'm trying to get her out of doing this, especially when it's my arm when we're at peoples houses. I love her so deeply. It's amazing how you can bond and feel so much love for something. Charliey x |
She could go into heat anytime after reaching 6 months of age. It is not uncommon for baby teeth to be retained in Yorkies. Most owners have them removed when they spay or neuter. Infection will eventually set in if not removed. Humping can just be a way of releasing pent up energy. You could try longer, more brisk walks to help her run off that energy. Welcome to YT.:) |
