Looking for financial help No I'm not begging but since I still can't find a job I need to find that list of places, organizations and websites that help people with veterinary care. Could someone post it please? I'm wishing it were a sticky note now. Adie has had this growth on her head for two years. The vet, the groomer and I all agreed that it was harmless and we didn't have to worry about it. Now, in the past two weeks it has increased in size and I am truly worried, I need to get it removed.....NOW! |
Here's the link to one of the threads: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...vet-bills.html |

Awesome! Thanks so much. |
Lou I am so sorry! I've been there and it is not a good feeling then worrying about your pets is just a big stressor! Care Credit may have been mentioned but I didn't click the links - GOOD Luck and hugs too for you |
how much money do you need? |
I'm not sure how much I need till I go to the vet again. I did apply for an ICare card and they approved me for $500.oo. The card should arrive within a week. My vet isn't on the list of vets who accept it but I'm going to ask hoer if she will. Otherwise Adie will have to go somewhere else. I know a couple of them have good reputations. Wish me luck and thanks again for the info. |
Lou I hope things turn around for you soon. My Cali has a growth on her head and it has been there for several years. My vet did a needle biopsy right in the room and sent it out and it was a benign plasma cell cyst. It was not very expensive to do. I hope Adie's is similar. |
I am sorry times are so difficult for you Lou. Here is a link that may have something that will help....Many will probably be repeats...but maybe there will be something on this list that is different: Are You Having Trouble Affording Your Pet? : The Humane Society of the United States |
Thanks Linda, I've been there. Most of them are cancer, spay/neuter type help. Some are breed specific. But ICare was the best one I could find. Thanks again |
Another idea....if your vet won't take Care Credit, would they do a payment plan? |
So glad to hear that care credit helped you out. If you are in a pinch financially, it may be worth calling around to get estimates. I know that the vets in my area charge almost double what the vets charge in my home town(which is 1.5 hours away from where I live). Depending on what I am getting done, it's worth the drive for me to go home. For example...the vet down the road quoted me $300-$500 to get my 2 year olds teeth cleaned. The vet up by my parents will charge me $100...and I think it's like $20 for each extraction. It cost me $200 to get my dogs teeth cleaned when he was 8 years old, plus a few extractions, plus a heartworm test and a rabies vaccination. |
Also, check out your jewelry box...all those broken ankle bracelets, necklaces, chains, earrings, etc that you no longer wear or want....(like my x-husbands wedding ring!!)....with the price of gold today, you can really get a lot of vet care bankrolled! I paid for a dental and a spay on a retired breeder, and had a little left over when I "turned in" broken chains and earrings and a couple of rings that the stones had fallen out of.....and my ex's gold cufflinks that I had bought him for his birthday one year (the birthday when I found out he had spent it with another woman....)! |

I'm sorry to hear about Addie...I hope everything turns out fine for her. I just had a plasmacytoma removed from my JJ's foot they charged me $400 including blood work. I know vets charge different prices. I found carecredit to be a lifesaver. |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone, I don't think I will find any valuable jewelry lurking around since I never got in to it. I will hock my mother-in-law's engagement ring if I have to but it would break my heart. I also applied for a $300.00 credit card that will be coming so that is $800.00. Surely that will be enough! I think I will be alright. I just wish I could find a stupid job!! I really think that age discrimination is playing into this. I will be 64 on the 28th and while they can't ask me how old I am they CAN ask me when I graduated from high school. sigh. Anyway, this is about Adie. No matter what she will be taken care of. (I wonder if they buy blood anywhere near me - LOL) Thanks again my friends. I thought I would post my favorite photo of her again. some of you might remember that I took this to show how she stares at her Daddy waiting for him to notice she's there. Its ball time and those silent messages get pretty strong. |
