Got the bb2-now how do i get it on him?! Kuzco will not hold still while i put it on him. I have him sniff it-which he is reluctant to do-then give him a treat. When I try to go near him with it he cowers and runs. any suggestions? |
I lay the BB on the floor, get my dog and set her down with her feet in the holes, then quickly grab the BB while keeping her inbetween my arms and swiftly up and buckle and done! Good Luck! And treats! Then snap on the leash and head right outside.... he'll forget about the BB as soon as he's distracted by the rest of the world! |
I agree with kjc's method, works great. I also left it on her for half the day for a couple of days for her to get used to it and then when I put her tags on it did the same leaving on process. |
I agree that once Kuzco is outside, he will forget he is wearing a harness. With my boys, I put them on a countertop (mainly because I have to arrange their long hair as the harness goes on). I lay out the harness in front of them. Buckle to the left paw side. I put my hand under the chest and lift a little, while using the other hand to start bringing the harness up. It's hard to explain, but you will be doing it easily in no time. The first time Max wore his, he looked at me like he was asking, "Am I secure in this?" He was accustomed to a vest that went over his head. Once we were outside, he was loving the freedom of the BB. Since Kuzco is a young pup, he might take a little coaxing to walk. Max didn't want to leave our driveway the first couple of times I tried walking him. |
they r such sensitive little creatures, aren't they? |

I suppose. Thanks for the BB2, by the way! |
I have been noticing-no one has just one yorkie! Lol. |

Hopefully he'll quickly learn that the harness equals good things. If Lola gets any sort of idea that I'm going somewhere she stalks me and sits on my lap if I sit down, so I put her harness on while she sits in my lap. |
Maybe just leave it where he can see and smell it for a couple of days. (Make sure he doesn't chew it) Then slip it on him, give him a treat, and take him outside. Usually once they start to associate the harness with the fact that it means going for a walk they start loving even the sight of it. I have to keep Gracie's out of sight for that reason. |
I have to hold Billi while I put her BB on. She doesn't sit still long enough for me to get both arms on. I can get the first, but when I do the second, she steps out of it. Little stinker! :p |
Lol, Jackson lifts his paws into step-ins. He learned by himself I guess. He dresses himself ;) It is one reason I'm not a big fan of stepins tho, because even tho he's very cooperative, I just find them more of a pain to put on. |
I always just sit in a chair or on the couch when I put Gracie's harness on. She hops right up on my lap and it is on in a few seconds. I cannot bend over very well to do it while she is on the floor due to a back injury so she comes to me. Others do put it on her while she sits on the floor. She doesn't care as long as it gets put on her! |
Once Bubba figured out that the Buddy Belt meant he was going somewhere, it was the excitement. I usually sit on the couch and have him facing me, whining because he wants me to hurry and get it on, so we can go. |
