Ear cleaning? What do you use to clean your yorkie's ears? My vet told me 1:1 vinegar and water but I'm not sure about that. |
I use a mixture of alcohol, vinegar, boric acid and betadine (the antiseptic, not the cleaner) on my dogs. Google 'homemade ear cleaner for Cocker Spaniels' for the recipe. |
I would use vinegar and water any day on my dogs ears. I make kombucha and I use vinegar on my hands to clean them and it makes my hands so soft. I would be afraid of the alcohol drying her ears out to much. I'm a no chemical kinda girl. :) |
I had bought Virbac Epi-Otic the other year to use, but I rarely used it as I couldn't stand the horrid smell of it. Then just last week ZoE was scratching at her ears & shaking her head, so off the vet she went (first time with an ear issue in her 3 years of life). The vet said the Epi-Otic is a good cleaner, but as I don't like it, he gave me Anmpharm Cucumber Melon Otic, and it smells much better. Her ear problem was caused by a mild yeast infection (probably from bath water in her ear) and she was prescribed Malotic ointment. I'd feel comfortable using distilled vinegar as well, as long as there are no existing ear problems. |
