I am sick of throwing the ball!!! There I said it.... And I will go on to say.. I want to throw every ball in the house in the garbage!! Why didn't somebody stop me when I saw the light up like a club balls and tell me NO those really aren't a great idea for you to take home!?!?!?!?!? And how in the world can you not get sick of fetching the ball?!?!?!?!? Ok I guess I better end this vent since Stella has her head over the top of my iPad and is dropping this stupid disco ball on my chest yet again  |
I'll throw the ball for your pups if you play chase and "I'm gonna get it" with mine. |
LOL Too funny! I'm lucky Joel isn't the fetch type. He'll only fetch so many times unless he gets a treat:p But he is a "Get up and chase me mom!" kind of dog. |
Someone posted an automatic ball-thrower on FB yesterday and today someone came up with another one with REMOTE throw! I can't find yesterday's, but here's a link to the one today. The one yesterday used Yorkie-size tennis balls. GoDogGo Automatic Ball Launcher & Tennis Ball Thrower for Dogs - GoDogGo Fetch Machine Official Web Site |
Here's the other one. This might be an old video from their kickstarter campaign, but this is the name of the company and how it works. |

The weather has been awful here. Fetch has been the only thing that keeps my little girl from climbing the walls! If we ignore her for a while and then look down at her we see the pouty face flat on the floor with the ball held in her mouth. A guilt ploy that always works. |
I've seen the larger fetch machines before and plan on getting one eventually for our border collie, but that ifetch for smaller dogs and for indoor use looks great...just hope they'll sell it in the UK. (off to check it out) Caleb also loves fetch games but doesn't bring it the whole way back, so I tie string to toys and throw them and pull them back, he LOVES the string games. It makes it easier for my back also. I'd never leave the ball or toys lying around with string attached though, in case he got caught up in it. We break up the day with several play sessions and I hide the throw toys in between or he'd bug me to death. As it is, he stares at where they are and whines as he looks between me and the place he knows the 'out of sight' toy is. (these dogs talk) I say no and he goes off sulking. They'd play all day wouldn't they? |
Are these regular balls or some special type? Magnus isn't really the fetch type of a pup but Zoey certainly is. It doesn't even have to be a ball, it can be ANYTHING! She'll scratch at me and then when I look, she'll look at me and then the ball (or whatever else) back and forth till I throw it. LOL |
the problem i have had with an automatic ball thrower is that it isn't good enough unless YOU throw it. Otherwise its boring. Anyone else have that problem? Shelly |
My daughter is having the same problem with her little yorkie Lucy. Lucy is obsessed with wanting everyone to throw the toy and if you don't Lucy will just bark and bark. Years ago we had a yorkie like that and she would drive us nuts. When we got tired of throwing her ball we would have to hide it otherwise she would not quit barking at us. |
I have the same issue here. If it isn't the ball, it's some other toy. When he finally decides to nap I tip toe around here like I have a baby.."oh wait, I didn't have to tip toe then as they slept well"..lol.. I really feel your pain. The weather here has also been so cold that walks are out so inside ball it is...almost all day....every day...:Puppy2: |

Lola likes to play fetch till the cows come home, but I will take that over my last that only wanted to play tug of war or keep away. |

You can put it on the dresser and around 4am she will be standing on your chest with it in her mouth barking at you and the disco lights flashing thru the room. |

Gizmo fetches anything and everything, he doesn't care what it is lol. Do any of yu have one that if you refuse to play fetch anymore, they try to force the ball, toy or whatever it is in your mouth? Yea it's much easier to just keep throwing instead of wrestling toys away from my mouth haha. He does like tug a war too, so we do tug a war when he brings it back, then throw. This goes on all day in between walks and naps. I think since he's an only pup and he can't get the cats to play toys itch him, I'm the next best thing. |

Mine are more into nosework -- sniffing out stuff for treats -- than fetching balls. But it's the same result: They bark until I hide the odor for them. They can't get enough of it. I think I'd rather throw a ball! |

The I fetch ball launcher takes any balls 1.5" or less according to the developers. Knowing how much Katie loves to fetch balls, our dear friend ordered us one a few weeks ago. We can't wait to get it. That video makes me even more excited. |
Let us know how it goes! Yeah, the I fetch seems to have been designed with smaller dogs in mind. |
Katie is not interested in balls bigger than 1.25" and prefers smaller. She will not touch the smallest kongs, but it could also be a rubber thing. Our floors are lined with Katie's balls. She used to want to chew them, but having so many of them around has desensitized her. It's amazing I don't kill myself with all of them around. I know I will have to sit there with her when she plays because she loves interacting with me, but hopefully it will save my back. Every time I bend down after Katie drops the ball at my feet, she teases me and gets it before I can. It's a good thing I adore her so. |
1 Attachment(s) And that's another thing about Stella.. Size does not mater she has tiny kong tennis balls all the way up to a huge like honeycomb ball the size of a basketball that she carries around!! As I am typing this I keep feeling as if I am being stated at sooo hmmm let's look to my left.. |
1 Attachment(s) And now it is time for bed... |
Hahaha one of Gizmos favorite fetch toys is a 2 ft long raccoon, more than twice his length, but he never lets size deter him. Anything too small like the small tennis balls are destroyed in minutes into shreds !!! People laugh when they come to my house because they think I have a huge dog, due to the size of toys laying around and I tell them yep, I have a 5lb Rottweiler lol. |
Lol ... |
