Keno the Guard Dog After many years of having dogs, Keno being my first Yorkie, but certainly not my first dog. He has really surprised me, my husband had shoulder replacement surgery last week. He was in the hospital for 4 days and to say that Keno was upset with his not being here is an understatement. He was beside himself, he looked all over and laid on his (Husbands) pillow and moped. Well he came home and Keno has not left his side, he even has to eat by him. He has a visiting nurse and PT person come every day and for some reason Keno who has never shown any aggression to anyone has tried to bite each of them. I have to lock him up in his crate while they are here. Is this normal Yorkie behavior? I have never seen such a total change in a dogs actions as this. |
Are you and your husband usually the only ones he interacts with on a daily basis? Meaning do you have alot of visitors to your home? He could just be used to y'all and see strangers as intruding on his territory. My son, hubby, and myself are usually the only ones who interact with both our dogs. One (bulldog) is extremely sociable the other (yorkie) is very stand offish and doesn't want anyone near him that isn't immediate family. It could just be their personalities every dog is an individual and I wouldn't "force" him to try and interact with people if he doesn't want to. |
No that's just it, he has always liked all visiters. He still likes the neighbors and friends he knows, he just seems to dislike the nurse and PT, like he needs to protect my husband from them. |
I think it's somewhat a normal behavior. All he knows is that his daddy was gone for 4 days and when he came back, he seems to be in pain. I think Keno might be protective b/c he's somehow relating his being in pain to the nurse and PT. |
