Watering eyes 6yr old Charlie's eyes water constantly and the dried leakage accumulates in the inside corners. I try to keep the eyes washed and the "eye boogers" removed, but Charlie goes crazy when anyone messes with his face. The vet prescribed some eye drops for dry eyes, and thought he is just extremely allergic to grasses, but his eyes only get relief immediately after the drops are in. I've given him Benadryl also for the allergy part (with the vet'/ approval. Does anyone have any advice? |
Do you pin hair out of eyes? That helps irritation a lot. |
My little 8 month old boy has watery eyes all the time. Unless he has planted himself in front of a space heater. But other than that his eyes have teared all down his face. His hair is always in a top knot and so far is no where near as itchy as his sister with her allergies. Though the vet says it may be allergies. So I just keep making sure his eyes are clear of hair and whatnots. It doesn't seem to bother him as much as it bothers me. I'm just paranoid. :) |
If he truly does have dry eyes, have you yet tried Optimmune? It's AMAZING. It's like Restasis (ie, for human dry eye) in that it contains cyclosporine, but it's in an eye ointment. It literally changed my Wylie's eyes within a couple days. I use it on him every other day. It can be extrememly expensive, but I get mine (you need a prescription) from Drs. Foster and Smith and it's around $30 for a tube. AMAZING STUFF. Can't speak highly enough of it. |
Sounds like Whylie's mom has a great cure if it is really dry eye. Other suggestions would be to keep his eyes clear of hair. Change his diet to something that has less probable allergy causing ingredients. Give him distilled or filtered water. Some pets react to all the unnatural substances we expose them to. |
