I didn't get my Yorkie
 

Bye guys, called the rescue this morning and the one I had a deposit on was found by his owner and returned.

So I went back looking for dogs. There was a cute Yorkie there but I was told they are trying to find a rescue for it because it has skin problems.

So I'm looking around and there is a section were strays are but I wanted to look in the section where they are available. they have very few options in both sections, most have a green paper that means that they already have a deposit on him.

Looking around I see this sweet Chihuahua jumping up and down against the cage and wagging his tail as I approach. I didn't really want that breed, but he was just too cute and he was trying to sneak out of his cage too. I looked around and decided to take him home. He was one of the only small breeds that were available to take home right away. He is a sweetie. He sat on my lap most of the 30 minute ride home. Tight now he is napping next to me in bed. He is one and a half years old. I think I am going to name him Monkey. That's what i was gonna name the Yorkie too.

I adore Chis....we all do, I think....dont run off, you stay and share your upcoming adventures with Monkey! I had Chis when I was a teenager.....they are precious!

Now why would you leave us just because you do not have a Yorkie? We love all breeds and want to know a little secret? I been here for awhile now and I have never owned a Yorkie. I have had a lot of fosters and now rescues, but I have never owned one and hey if they let me stay, they will let anyone stay. :)

You can only stay if you post a pic of Monkey :p. I love chi's!!! Big attitudes in small bodies:D

Chi's are cute too. I have 2 female's chi's they are both 5 year's old, 1 has long hair and look's like a small collie My other one is short hair a red brindle. love them to piece's and of course last but not least My yorkie Luci Lu. Welcome a board and hope you stay. I have learned so much knowledge from this site. Keep up the good work, Ladies, Gent's Just love this site.

Funny Chihuahua story, my great niece used to call her Aunt Samara "Aunt Chihuahua" because she could not say her name. Funny thing was her Aunt looked like a Chihuahua, she is very tiny with big brown eyes.

For a minute I thought about naming my dog Steve after the actor Steve Buscemi who looks like a Chihuahua, but my neighbors name is Steve too.

Congratulations on your new baby chi. Love the name! But, to keep Monkey company and so you won't need to even think about changing your username, why not get a Yorkie, too? I looked for a rescue terrier/small dog for well over a year until I was heartbroken before I got Tibbe. But a chihuahua and a Yorkie would be great together. Anyway, hoping to see pictures of that new baby when you can get them downsized.

thanks, I thought about it and I might look for a Yorkie too. This is my first pet so I have to take thing slow and the Chi is a fireball who wants 24/7 attention, doesn't want to be left alone and doesn't want to come in from his walks. On top of that my knee is swollen and sore and I can barely move it, I hope I didn't get a tick bite.

Sounds like Monkey is just happy to get some well deserved attention and love. I agree about getting another Yorkie, it takes times sometimes to find the perfect one. I also 100 percent agree with you on waiting, let Monkey get adapted to his new lifestyle.

Well, I totally understand about having just one. Tibbe is all I can manage to handle now and I used to foster dogs and have a houseful of dogs years back, many with behavior problems to re-train. Don't know how I did it! Trying to keep up with his teeth brushing, toenails(I can only use Gentle Paws since I'm almost phobic about cutting the cuticle on him for some reason) and brushing, bathing, training, playing with him several times a day which almost always involves chasing him around the house several times each session or he's unhappy with me and cuddle time, letting him out to potty several times daily, walks, washing his dishes and changing his water at least twice daily, keeping stocked up on his food, his frequent vet visits and tending to him when he's feeling bad and various needs keep me running. Plus the expense! Yikes! I had no idea had expensive vet visits had gotten when I got Tibbe as it had been five years since I lost Jilly and things had changed a lot with vet expenses. I couldn't handle a second dog to save my life! We'd both love to have another but it would be just too much with my bad back, which was really painful this past two months and it was really hard with just one dog. Plus, if the other dog had a chronic condition to vet, buy medicine for, have lots of tests, etc., as Tibbe has, it would likely put me in the poor house! But I love the idea of a second one!

Watch that swollen knee and look for the signs of a bite. If you get a red circle around a place on your knee, a rash or that swelling doesn't subside, better see a doctor before other symptoms start.
