New Puppy
 
After my terrible ordeal of "the pet store" puppy, I found wonderful lady who bred her yorkie for the first time and had 8 adorable babies. She has two males and I have the first choice of which one I want. They will be 8 weeks on Monday January 6! The both weigh about 3 pounds....I love them both and can not decide. What to do?

I have 2 yorkies with very different personalities, but I adore them both. I really don't think you could go wrong with either one! Maybe you could go and spend a bit of time with both of them and see which personality appeals to you the most?

They need to stay with there mom until 12 weeks. I would also make sure she did genetic and health testing. As well as knows the dogs lines pretty far back to know there where know illness and such or you could end up with another sick puppy that may not show genetic illnesses until 2 years old or older.

those babies are absolutely beautiful! and my impulsive mind goes right to-"Why not get both?" lol.

I agree here and also....these pups are gorgeous, really beautiful, but they look like a mix to me? especially the one on the right. I would be careful with folks breeding to breed for financial gain, if that is the case here.


Pet Store pups, puppymill pups, back yard breeder pups etc...always a huge risk here...you should really consider saving some money and investing in a pup from a reputable breeder. Save yourself the heartbreak, I've had enough pain from all of the above to be nearly bankrupt and brokenhearted.....its so worth it in the end....

Impulsiveness is dangerous when it comes to pups...been there....and lost, more than I can ever convey....

Gorgeous babies! Would be so hard not to get both with those sweet faces. Just go with your gut. I'm on the hunt for my yorkie baby now and there is one that is "calling out to me". I just keep being drawn to her.

You'll make the best decision for you!

Not going to get both! I have two at home already! They are not ready to go yet they will stay for another few weeks. If I want one I need to choose and leave deposit. She never bred before this is first time both mom and dad are there with her and both have papers. When we meet on Saturday I have a few more questions! Since they are local I know the vet and they have been vet checked, tails docked and dewclaw removed! I will know when I see them if I get the feeling or not.

Check out the the YTCA website and see if your breeder is on it.

Dog Breeders Map List- The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America

This site give you a list of reputable breeders. I could not pick a pup just on looks. You have to check their personality. Play with them. See which pup responds to you. Go with the one that you feel is the best fit to you.

I suppose playing with them and talking to the breeder about what she has observed about personality would be helpful. Kuzco was the last one in the litter so i didn't have a choice. He is absolutely delightful!I suppose he was passed up for the others but he is perfect for me. Maybe it was just luck. I'll never know what the others were like. If the owner handles them and socializes them that is a good thing.

Whether there vet checked or not if they did not do certain testing and she did not know the lines then you could end up with a pup with a genetic illness that does not show up until they are a couple years old. I would look for a reputable breeder.
