looking for baby yorkie,is this a good place?? hi I've been doing a lot of research and saving towards getting a baby yorkie in the summer. i know how much of a big responsibility it is to taking care of a puppy but I'm still trying to find a good place to adopt a yorkie after hearing sooo much about scammers. so are these good places… Yorkie Puppies for Sale - Greenfield Puppies AKC Yorkie breeder NY | Yorkshire Terrier breeder | Yorkie puppies for sale NY Yorkie New York le petit puppy Puppies for Sale Brooklyn NY - Puppies for Sale Brooklyn New York these are just some website i was looking at, if you guys have any doubts about these places or know if any of these places does bad business please tell me. also if you guys know any good places or breeders that sell baby yorkies in either NJ, NY, or PA please let me know |
Before I look at those sites, I will tell you that the BEST place to start is the breeders referral list at ytca.org Also, if you get behind the scenes messages from this post, it is a good bet that they are unethical breeders so steer clear. Going to look at the sites now... |
1st = Nooo. Many red flags but basically, this is like a broker 2nd = This one looks like one I would research some more on. I cant open the guarantee on my tablet so I would like to see that. I dont like her use of the term "design" but I do like that she encourages many visits |
3rd one us just too little info. Doesn't "feel" right to me. Are they registered with YTCA? AKC? 4th one = NO! Run! These almost assuredly come from a puppy mill. 5th = Not a direct website to breeder so broker. Stay away. Hope this helps. Also, you can look in the breeders section here...see the breeders that help with questions? Any of those would be good to talk to...even if not close to you, they may be able to refer you to a reputable breeder in your area. :) |
thanks for your help i am now looking for breeders from YTCA and I've been doing a little research on the breeders and getting a lot of positive feedback, so i would probably end up getting my yorkie from one of the breeders |

You want to stay away from breeders who use the word micro or teacup, you want to make sure the puppies are going to be with there mom until 12 weeks old, you also want to make sure the breeder does health and genetic testing, you want to make sure the breeder is not breeding any females under 5 pounds, that the breeder is not breeding mixes, they are AKC registered, you want to see where the dogs and puppies are living, and you want a breeder who will answer ANY and ALL questions you have. |
Oh thanks Lovetodream88 I'll make sure to keep that in mind when doing my research on breeders although I have been on other website that talks about how teacup yorkies are not a breed n how any breeder who breed there puppies to be teacup yorkies can have a lot of health issues soo I'll stay aware of that.:) |

I've seen "rescues" for over $1000 on here, I call, BS! :thumbdown |
From experience, stay away from any type of "pet store". |

The second one offers limited registration on spay/neuter contact and a 1 yr health guarantee from time of whelp, but doesn't guarantee LP. |
You are looking at puppy mills and backyard breeders here. I know they make their sites look real pretty but it is easy enough to do. Just because they register with AKC does not mean they are not a puppy mill. AKC registers thousands upon thousands of puppy mill and BYB pups yearly. They make a lot of money from them. I would do a club search on the AKC website ((don't bother with the classified ads) and find a club in your area or state. Those clubs have breeder referral people (should be listed in their information on the AKC website) They only refer to breeders they know and are reputable. Believe me their standards are much higher than AKC's registration standards are. Don't be discouraged if the first person you talk to does not have pups. They may know others who do have pups or you can get on a wait list of a breeder that you like. It is usually best to check out the breeder and get references before you decide to buy anyway. Hopefully, you are about to purchase a little dream pup that will be part of your family for many, many years to come. Take your time finding just the right one. |
