1st Grooming Hi all, This has probably been done to death. We need to get our Teddy groomed, but we don't want him just sheared off because he has a scruffy coat and we want to keep him that way. Are there any groomers in the essex area that are recommended and are able to just trim him up a bit, we are trimming around his eyes and bum at the moment as best as we can. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thank you. |
Hello and welcome to YT! I searched for quite a while before I found a groomer that I was happy to bring Pebbles to. The groomer trims around her face and does her nails. She lets me stay in the room and hold Pebbles while she works. She finishes off by giving Pebbles a kiss on the top of her head and a treat:) The best thing to do, I think, is ask around your area and then visit recommended groomers and explain what you would like done. I think it's important to visit before any work is done so you can check that you will be happy to leave your pup there and that they are happy to follow your instructions. Best of luck and post pics of the new haircut:) |
Pebbles, Thanks for the reply, we would definitely have to be in the room with Ted whilst he is groomed. It is such a difficult choice to make, we will have a good look around our area for a decent groomer. |
I don't live in your area so I can't help with a groomer. I just want to warn you to be careful. Make sure the place you go to allows you to see the whole facility and lets you stay with your pup. You don't have to stand right next to him but you should not have to leave your pup for hours at a time for a 20 or 30 minute grooming. Before you take your baby to a groomer ask if you can watch them do other dogs. Observe how the handle the dogs and where they put them as they wait. Find out who trained these people and how long they have been grooming and make sure they will do only what you want done. Sadly, many of these places are only "bathe and shave" "salons" and don't really know how to do a special order. Make sure they clean everything before another pup is put into the area. With the big boom in small dogs a lot of fly by night "grooming" places have popped up. There are no laws regulating anything about the grooming industry so it is up to us owners to make sure we check out the place we are entrusting our little ones to. I hope you find a good one. |
