Anyone also have a Biewer, Papillon or Chinese Crested In the future we hope to get a buddy for Lilah and these are the breeds I'm most interested in (and perhaps a poodle, although I prefer the miniature and standard vs toy but not sure I want a dog that big) Anyway, was leaning toward a papillon because I've always liked them but am wondering how much they shed. I've been spoiled by having yorkies and not having to deal with shedding. Lilah's breeder also breeds Biewers and they were adorable. Just in research mode right now :) thanks! |
Oh, I would get a Biewer in a heartbeat! |
I personally would love a toy Poodle, my husband would prefer a crested. I also just love Italian Greyhounds. I don't have any experience of mixing breeds in your home as Alfie is my first dog, but if think it more depends on the individual dog personalities and how much time you have to socialise and train them be together. I would however be a little afraid to mix a large breed in with the tinies, just because accidents happen even with the most placid dogs, a playful paw could really hurt a lil one. |
I've had poodles, they were 12lbs. I loved them, they were very smart and excellent dogs. We should have socialized them better though. If you get a poodle make sure you get it from a good breeder, epilepsy isn't fun. When we got the poodles we had an older yorkie, they got along fine and he was the alpha. |
When I first saw a Biewer, I fell in love! Had to have one! |
1 Attachment(s) I want a Biewer BAD... I did have 2 yorkies till I had my baby in Sept and did not keep up with daily brushing...... Now I have a yorkie and a Chinese Crested :p |
We have a 7month old Beiwer that fits in very well with the one yorkie,2 toy poodles and one chi. We have a mix of male and female around here as well. There hasn't been any problems. Their ages range from 12 yrs to 7 months. So we are a very good mix of age, breed and sexes around here. |

I love papillons. Mine came into my life very unexpectedly and was such a wonderful friend and companion for the eight years that I got to have her (even though she came with major PTSD/anxiety). She was so devoted and sweet and smart as a whip. Any shedding dog is a shedding dog and if you have commited yourself to groomjng a yorkie than a papillon will be a piece of cake ;) |

I had miniature poodles when I was younger. I have a Biewer. You have to check out the breeds and find which one fits best in your family |
Papillons are fantastic dogs. They have a lot of energy. It's why they're the best toy breed running in agility most of the time. I've heard their shedding is fairly normal, but not as bad as, say, a German Shepherd or a Golden Retriever or something. |
