Yorkie Pregnancy Hey guys! We just found out our little one is pregnant. She is 5 yrs old though and has had trouble with sedation in the past. I'm super worried about her delivery. Any advice from other moms and dads whose little ones have had pups would be very helpful! Cheers and happy holidays everyone! |
Why don't you spay her and end the pregnancy you know if she has to have a c section she will be sedated right. Is it really worth the chance |
Duh me if she is spayed she will also be sedated I know but I still wouldn't want to take a chance on pregnancy delivery that's a lot harder on them than spaying and your vet could do blood work to check her organs and make sure they can handle aneshesia |
I'm seeing so many things wrong w/this situation... Is this her 1st pregnancy? If yes, is't she kinda too old to have her 1st litter? Does she have liver issues? Is that why she has a tough time w/anesthesia? Is this something she can pass onto her pups? What if she needs a c-section? IDK, maybe these questions above should've been running through your head b4 u bred her.:confused: Maybe I'm a worry wart...I hope all goes well for the momma & pups! |

You aren't just dealing with sedation issues and a first time pregnancy of an older dog...you are also dealing with it in a small breed, which can bring on a whole slew of issues in itself. Out of curiosity, how much does your female weigh...and how much does your male weigh?? Are they both yorkies?? If your female isn't big enough, or the male is a lot bigger than her, there's even a greater risk of the puppies being too big to pass and needing a c-section. |
Do you have her medical history etc. I would go with termination spay, because if you don't have a history you don't know what's passing on in the pups and you don't want to put your dogs life at risk during delivery. What has your vet said when you discussed with him/her, how much does your dog weigh? |
