First yorkie...oh my! Hi all, I am new to this forum and reading fast and furious as I am also a new yorkie mom. Certainly WAY different than any other dog I have had. Let me introduce Tilly. first off she is a rescue. I found her at a shelter in June. She did not look much like a yorkie then, Coat shaved, pregnant, and sooo scared. She was about 1 year of age when I got her and I snatched her fast. The shelter had only had her out about 1 hour...meant to be mine. I had always wanted a yorkie, but pups were just too expensive for me. She was sick when I got her and my vet also determined that she has collapsing trachea. Many signs of sever abuse. She has her dew claws and whoever docked her tail, took it all, not even a nub. The vet and a breeder I had look at her say she is full blood. She can still be skittish at times, but she is beginning to be the alpha boss of the house. Very spunky, and OMG can she jump. She is not allowed in the yard alone, the fence is no problem for her. I am so in love with this baby. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning about taking care of my newest child. |
Lucky girl She is so lucky to have you. Have fun with her. |
Bless you for saving her. She will bring you such joy and may you have a wonderful life together. |
Welcome!!!! What a lucky puppy!! |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Tilly is a very lucky girl to be in a loving home now with proper care. |
Congratulations on your precious little lady Forgive me if I missed something....I am currently under the grip of a horrindous case of the flu and my brain is not tracking correctly....what happened to her puppies? I missed what happened to them. I am happy she is thriving in her new loving home! I recommend two books to all my new owners...."Yorkies for Dummies" and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide"....these are very important tools for your arsonal needed to raise and care for your new adventure with this little lady! |
Thanks Thanks all. I feel like the lucky one. She makes me laugh everyday. As for her puppies, they would not let me have her unless I agreed to abort them and spay. As I needed her and she needed me I had no choice. |
Welcome. I am so glad you rescued her and sounds like she rescued you as well. I can truly relate to yorkies being unlike any other fur baby. They are so much like children, there's never a dull moment. Again welcome to Yorkie Talk |

Hello & Welcome to YT. Where is Dale Texas? |
Welcome To YT~I am so glad she's found you...I think terminating the pregnancy and spaying her was the best thing you could do for her!! She's probably been able to recover much quicker than she would have if you would've went through with having the puppies. They would have been a drain on her already fragile body. I am sure you'll find lots of useful information here, including other owners experiences in dealing with collapsed trachea. Have you bought Tilly a harness yet?? I'd definitely make sure you get her a choke free one and never hook her collar to a leash. I use buddy belts on my boys and they seem to be a favorite here among yorkie lovers. Their collars are only used to hold their name tags. That's it. Bless you for rescuing the little girl!! I have 2 rescue yorkies myself and there's nothing like it!! They are truly a blessing!! |
Hi, Dale is just east of Austin. I see a lot of Texas Yorkie moms here! |
