Feeding Hi, My yorkie, Eddy Perrito is 6 months and I wonder how often I should be feeding him. He has 2 meals a day of royal canin and usually chicken. most of the time I throw away most of the r. canin. He seems fit and healthy and full of beans with lots of energy. |
I believe it is like a 1/4 technically for mine and it goes by the weight of your baby. If you are really worried maybe just check with your vet. |
Feeding Many thanks Cedric n Lola |
Good evening and welcome! :) And how is Weston on this chilly, windy, dark and rainy day?!!!!? ;) Harry loved his Royal Canin up until about 3 months ago, then he started fiddling about with it, and not eating with any real gusto? I changed him to Lily's Kitchen kibble (organic, holistic, cheaper....!!! :D) and he absolutely loves it (any of the varieties). Might be worth a try? Good luck! Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Royal Canin Hi Sally That's about right, fiddling with it. I was throwing more away than he was eating. I'm now introducing Harringtons which I found at Tesco, again much cheaper and seems o.k.he is now eating all from his dish which speaks for itself. Di |
:) Frustrating, isn't it?!!? Just a teeny word of warning - if your pup's stools start to become very loose, it might possibly be the Harringtons.....truly don't want to put you off, but I know several of the UK members on here have had that problem. Good luck with it all! :) Sally + Harry x |
food Thanks Sally I'm watching the stools and am changing gradually. The last thing we want is the skitters. Fingers crossed. We are having an off day at sunny Weston-super-Mare, overcast today but at least not raining. We will still go to the beach later to play ball. |
Your dog needs a balanced diet so if you wish to continue feeding him kibble I'd find a good chemical and grain free one that he will eat. I feed raw to mine and they need 80% muscle meat 10% bone and 10% organ. Feeding cooked chicken is okay but he needs liver & heart and a variety of different meats too for balance. Check the ingredients on your cheaper Tesco food, the first few ingredients should be meat or fish, there should be no grains oats or rice or beet pulp. Be wary of meat or bone meal as that tends to mean rendered dead dog and cat |
