I've gotten both the breed and "is he for sale" comment. The breeding one I find rude, but not that surprising, I think most yorkies owners get that comment. The "is he for sale" one really catches me by surprise. Why would I sell him when I'm obviously enjoying a pleasant outing with him? That just doesn't make sense to me. |

I've had a lot of people ask what breed Lola is and a lot have guessed wrong, but the other day at a dog event someone asked if she's a pekingese LOL. I'm not sure why that's so funny to me, but it is. I've also been asked if she's a "real yorkie" by a morkie owner. |
I had someone hold Uni and ask, "Is it a boy?" and look down there. I said, "No girl." She said, "Really?" Looks again, "No boy?!" I said, "Noooo, girl!" Looks again, "Really?" By that time, this woman's friend said, "She ain't got no penis!" :sidesplt: |

I have several times through out my life run in to people that can not tell a male dog from a female and that completely BAFFELS me. I just do NOT understand how it is they can not see the difference and tell a penis from a vagina. Its not like kittens. |
I have a small canvas bag that I use when going into stores with Gracie Ruth. It's both to keep her comfortable in the shopping cart and to "protect" the carts from dog germs. When she sits in it just her shoulders and head are visible. She has always sat so quietly in it and just looks around at everything. I was in Hobby Lobby one time picking out scrapbook paper and she was sitting there like a good girl but she was getting bored and ready to move on. So she turned her head to look at me and gave the tiniest little whine. The lady standing next to me nearly had a heart attack. You'd of thought a bomb had gone off. She started laughing then and said she thought G was a toy. Yea...I'm a 50+ yr old woman and I carry a stuff toy dog with me shopping. But she was sweet and told Gracie that she was a very good girl and that she wishes her dogs were so well behaved. We also get the rat dog comment a lot. Depending on my mood I'll either reply with "Thank you...you know that is what they are bred to do, kill rats." Or just look them square in the eye and ask, "Why would you say that about someone elses dog? Really, why would you say something so rude?" |
Some of the things people say are really funny. Gracie wears pj's alot because they are easy to keep on in the house and she is dressed to go potty when we go outside. They are much easier during this potty training period when I need to get her right outside. So people say "You are dressing that dog like a kid" Also "She looks like a stuffed animal" "How much did you pay for her?" "Will you go with me to pick out a puppy that is as cute as yours?" [from my doctor] "My 11mo old golden would love a play date with Gracie" [from an audiologist] "My beagle would love a play date with Gracie" "We are available if you ever need a dog sitter" "That dog doesn't want for anything" |
We have 3 yorkies and 2 are females and one a male. Teeka is 4 pounds and Tatiana is not quite 3 pounds, so people often think that Tatiana is the puppy to Teeka! They often ask if I breed them. I also get "looks" because I dress them when we are out and about. Most people love that they are dressed, but there are those few who say rude things or laugh! |

I dont understand why people do that. What the heck is it to them if you want to put clothes on your dog? Some people just have nothing better to do then to be all up in other peoples business and rude. I really dont have any funny thing yet that people have said. but im sure its coming. |
Funniest thing ever said to me was when I was training Max to walk on sidewalks in the city. He was nervous and slinking along. An older man said, "That's a nice cat." He was completely serious. :p When Max was a tiny pup, we had several people say, "Is that a real dog?" I wanted to say that Max was battery operated. :D |

now THAT is funny |
When I was walking Rocco, a man asked if his little boy (around 5) could pet him. While his son was petting him (Rocco didn't love it!) the little boy said "daddy, I want a doggie like this". The dad replied "when we get a dog, it's going to be a REAL dog"! I gave him a dirty look, and continued on walking my real dog! |
