I hope to get a puppy soon! Hi everyone! I don't yet have a yorkie but I really want to get a yorkie puppy soon. I am a single mom. My son is 10 but will be 11 in March. I am hoping to get a puppy close to my sons birthday and so I have been doing a lot of reserch on the yorkie breed and how to best train them. I think I am ready to add a yorkie baby to our home! I can't wait!! |
Its best to find the breeder then wait for one of there pups if need be. Here are some links you need to read and check out. Trust me doing the research and reading is better now then making a mistake. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...e-breeder.html, http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/mis...wning-dog.html, http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...p-10-list.html |
I just wanted to add, please be sure to teach your son on how to handle a puppy and proper ways to approach a dog. Just from personal experience, I've noticed that boys can be little rougher than girls would be. Since you've decided on a yorkie (and for any small breed), if the puppy ends up being very small (2-5 lbs), their body will be fragile to a point. Having a dog is a lot of work but the love and joy you get back is twice as much! :) |
LoveToDream thanks for all the good information. I have been looking at breeders website looking for one in my area. I have found a few and I think I have found one I like. I want one in my area so that I can go visit the puppy and meet with the breeder before I buy a puppy and I did not want the puppy to be shipped. There are some scams online to worry about too. I have seen a few and by researching a lot I was able to know what looks to good is to good to be true! |
To Magnus: boys can be rougher then girls this is true. However I have raised my son to be very gentle with animals. I know he will be very good with a puppy no matter the size it grows to be. |
