PARKER is in JAIL!!! Parker is 8 months old and has had 3 weeks of doing almost perfect with pee pad and going outside. I thought...Whoa we did it!! Wrong..today he has blown it in everyway. How can a dog that "got it" suddenly forget it. He is back in his designated area with a gate and his pee pad. Not getting out til he pees on his pad. He knows this!!! He knows to get out of jail which is what I call it he has to pee. NOPE...just staring at me and barking. Also means he is back into his belly band. Frustrating Now I am on pee alert and watching him like a hawk. I was so enjoying just letting him roam. Anyway had to express myself here to let my frustration GO!!!!!! |

I can't remember if you let me know if you neutered him yet? Could be an age thing regardless either way? |
Keep up the training. At least niw if you growl he will take more notice. Parker is adorable must be hard to keep him behind the barrier but I'm sure he'll catch on soon. |
1 Attachment(s) Parker has used his "get out of jail card" that you guys have petitioned for and is on pee and poop alert.LOL He is looking so innocent! Breny, I was trying to wait for a year before I get him neutered to max out muscle growth and close the growth plate. I have read info mainly on YT about the benefits of waiting due to the testosterone closing the growth plates and building muscle mass. He weighs 3.5 lbs and trying to give him all the benefits as possible. Might go ahead and have it done in January. I will let you know. |
Oh my gosh he looks like the cutest little raggamuffin, look at that hair! He's like a muppet LOL! |
He's adorable !! He looks angry on the last pic hahahaha |
1 Attachment(s) He is expressing his opinion about being in JAIL. It is "so beneath him at this stage of his career." Here he is in his new upcoming movie.."Parker dog of the Wild!" |

He is still young. It is not unusual for a pup to go off training once in a while. Gracie would have accidents when something different was going on in the house or when one of the kids moved out or one moved back in. It never was a continual problem and keeping her near the potty and giving her treats for doing it right always got her back on track quickly. I never punished her for a mistake because she always seemed to be very remorseful as she watched me clean up the area. I found that treating her for doing it right always works much better. They don't think like humans do but they can at times be a bit absent minded when distracted. Just don't give him too much freedom that he is not ready for and keep a close eye on him. You will see that he will be fine. I think one of the main issues with Yorkies and other little dogs with potty training is that they are given too much free reign before they are ready. When they are doing really well with one room don't be in a hurry to give them more rooms to roam. They get distracted and if no one is around to remind them and to watch for the signals they give when they need to go they will potty where they are. The more you stay on top of things the less accidents there will be and that will eventually eliminate the whole problem. A dog that is left alone, even for short amounts of time, in the home will continue to have accidents and will learn that behavior....then you are in trouble. In the past when I had a real difficult one to train I would tether the pup to me so the pup went with me where ever I went while inside. That way I would see the signals when the pup had to go and I wouldn't forget to take it out in time. The less accidents a pup has the less likely it will develop the bad habit of pottying inside where they are not supposed to. |
