Around here their last meal is given between 6:30-7pm and up by 8pm. I would suggest trying to give them their last meal a little earlier and see if that helps ! I know how hard it can be but you have to be strong enough to say NO. It will be beneficial to both you and him. You'll both get more sleep. I also wonder if since he is up most of the night if he has his day/nights mixed up? I know my dogs will sleep for hours on end but maybe with your pup he is sleeping too much during the day because he is worn out from the restless sleep pattern during the night. Do you think it would help if he got more exercise and play time during the day ? |
So I tried the carrier and no dice. I tried moving him into a different part of the room where its darker/quieter, still no dice. Last night I came home, played with him for quite a while (he was pretty tired afterwards), then he went outside a couple of times and one more before bedtime. I even let him sit with me in bed and chew on his bone for a while. Then he went in his crate and after about 15 minutes he started whining, then growling, then full on BARKING. It sounded like he was throwing a temper tantrum! He has never acted like this ever....is this a "terrible two" stage or something but at 6months old??? One of my coworkers suggested I get a clock and place it near his crate so he hears the ticking. This is baffling me because up until this week, he has slept fine in his crate and there has been no change in his diet or any new things on at night (always have the tv on, no lights). Anyone else have a suggestion? I'm getting really frustrated. I don't want to put him downstairs in his pen where I can't see or hear him, but if that is my last resort I may have to do it. HELPPPPPP ;) |
When I crate trained my Akita I took a baby food jar (a can works well too) and filled it with pennies and if she was carrying on in her crate I would shake it. Don't know why it works but it did. Amazingly enough after the first week she would go into her crate without throwing a fit. My yorkie sleeps with me so I don't have any experience with crate training them. Just an idea. ;) |
I jinxed Barney when I replied to this thread. The past 2 nights he's been getting up around 2 and crying. We have to take him out, let him walk and then he wants to run around. I am hoping it's something to do with moon phases????? I think I jinxed him when I bragged about his night behavior. I take it back! Maybe he was reading this thread too and thought this behavior was typical. |
