Yorkie has to be 'put down for a nap' Greetings :) My Maya is now over 1 year old and we are doing great - thanks for previous encouragement! My question is this: the darling won't just go off and take a nap - I have to PUT her to bed. When her behaviour becomes unruly or she just looks beat - usually about 2 hours after her last sleep- i have to actually say " it is time for night-night" and she will go jump onto my bed and allow me to cuddle her before she rolls onto her side and goes to sleep. She will sleep 2-3 hours if the house is quiet. We go through this routine 3 times per day. Sometimes I will say 'Maya go night-night' and hope she will wander off to the bed, but she walks slowly and waits for me to come with her. It is pretty cute. I rarely see her lie down on her own. If she does lie down, it is only for about 5 minutes and then she is up barking sharply at shadows...or whatever. Anyone else have this kind of ' baby'? |
Most of mine are like this.....I find it endearing and love it! |
Most adult dogs don't really need a nap. They will nap if worn out from a lot of exercise but generally they don't need it. Usually they just want to be with their people but if they are bored they will nap. Gracie is like a lap magnet. If someone sits down in the living room she makes herself comfortable on their lap right away. Just like most humans they are looking for something to do even if it means watching you cook in the kitchen. Gracie will walk along with me as I vacuum. I think she is making sure I do it right! But when is is bedtime she is always ready to cuddle up and go to sleep. |
That is precious! Mine are not that way. Like Gracielove, my 2 follow me around pretty much everywhere. There's no way they would stay on the bed for a nap if I got out of it. Even at night, if my husband or I get up to use the restroom, they are standing on alert until we are back. Through the day, they find someone sitting and have a rest beside them or on them. |
awww now that is priceless!!! what a lil sweetie wanting her momma to tuck her in. |
Lol thats really cute...My girl will be playing and the next minute she will scuttle over to her bed and plop down or go into her crate when she gets bored with her toys. I usually have to engage her to get her not to nap, she's such a laid back girl. When I first got her she used to sleep on my pillow with me at night, now she wont sleep with me...she needs her space to get her beauty sleep lol. |
My little one doesn't do that, but Maya sounds like such a doll needing to be put down. How adorable! |
Galen never stops. lol he has to go in his crate to take a nap |
When Lexi was younger, she had to go in her pen because she wouldn't settle down by herself and would play until she was too exhausted. Now she will go jump in her bed and take short naps, but is usually right beside me with her ball wanting to play fetch. Silly dogs! |
Max and Teeka sleep by themselves. Teeka likes to burrow under a pillow or blanket for her naps! Now, Tatiana will only nap if I am holding her or lay down with her or she lays on my chest. She is such a mama's baby. I love that she is my special girl and that she only wants me! The other 2 will go to anybody and sleep with them. |
Mine will nap on the couch, but not the bed. They are too afraid they might miss something if they are up there. |
Enzo doesn't stop unless I do - He can be tired, head bobbing exhausted and still he is by my side! When I'm home, we nap together, usually on the couch & I assume when I'm at work he will nap on his own. They are precious little velcro puppies, attached at the hip :) |
