My Yorkie is obsessed with my new cat A really bad string of cold/snowy weather hit my area yesterday. My mom found a young cat outside hiding under our car and brought her in so she could escape the bad weather. The cat herself is really wonderful. Very laid back, friendly, and has no issues with my three dogs ( Two yorkies and a scottie). However, my oldest female yorkie has a big problem with her. She is completely obsessed with this cat and will not be more than a foot away from her at all times. When I try to move her away she fights back hard to try and stay with her. She licks the cat all over and constantly shakes around her. She's not aggressive with the cat, she just HAS to be beside her. It worries me because she does nothing else at all but pay attention to this cat. Before she was very laid back, sweet, and responsive to commands. Now she likes like she can't even hear me. Is there anyway to make her more relaxed and not so concerned with her? |
When my daughter brings her cat to my home, my yorkie does the same thing. Luckily Omalley the cat loves her too. I think its kinda cute. |
When I brought my sheltie home My oldest male yorkie Thunder was OBSESSED!! after a week and a half he left her alone. just give her time! Shes probably trying to establish dominance. |
Is the cat so young that your female wants to adopt her and be her new mommy? |
I have 3 cats, all were under Megan's paw, for varying lengths of time. Enter Gina, she wants to play with all 3 of them, only Spooky has started to accept her, the other 2 cats are really my son's cats. We have a gate up going from the living room to the hall way for the other bed rooms in the house. Gina isn't allowed past it, which only makes her want to play with the others all that much more. Give them time, and make sure your oldest female, doesn't always get in the cats face. Good luck. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
I have no advice but it sounds pretty cute. Can you post a pic of the pair? |
