Need advice re: pooping in our new house We recently moved into a new house and my 7 year old has peed a couple of times but he continues to poop on an almost daily basis on my floors. He usually does his business on our walks, but this pooping seems more behavioral than a need to empty his bowels. I am not sure what to do. I have resorted to putting him in his kennel while I am gone during the day. I am guessing that he is 'adjusting' to his new house and he is probably stressed, but I can't have him pooping all over the house. Any advice? |
Has his schedule/daily routine changed? That might account for his pooping schedule being off. Sleep time, meal time exercise time -- any change can throw them off. I know it may seem behavioral, but dogs don't poop if they don't need to go, or if something isn't triggering it, like anxiety or excitement. Be sure to give him ample opportunity to potty in the right place, and try to maintain a consistent schedule. |
One of the other member just moved to a new home and her boy peed around the house for a bit. I think he adjusted and is doing well now. If the move was very recent, I'm sure your boy just needs some time to adjust and he'll probably be back to his old self. How big is the kennel? If you want to give him little more room, how about an xpen? |
Thanks, yes his schedule is different now and I am sure he is still adjusting and having anxiety, just wasn't sure what I could do to alter this, guess it will just take time. |
