First post: Unfortunately it's about the loss of our boy Magnum Hi everyone, I joined YT back at the beginning of Oct but have had a hard time with my first post. My wife and I lost our beautiful 8 yr. old Magnum on Sep 3rd. Magnum had developed issues with his trachea when he was five. We had managed his breathing troubles with prescription meds and inhalers and a chamber. He was a very happy boy with such a gentle soul. Near the end of August, Magnum was having trouble urinating which only triggered some very laboured breathing. We had to rush him to our vet so he could be put in the oxygen chamber. He had an examination complete with blood work and X-rays. Nothing out of the ordinary showed up, but the vet thought it was most likely a urinary tract infection. He was put on antibiotics but there was no improvement so we were taking Magnum to the vet every few days to try and find out what the problem was. After several different antibiotics, muscle relaxants and anti cough meds to help ease his stress because of his bladder troubles, as well as help ease his respiratory aggravation, there was no steady improvement evident. Only temporary relief of his symptoms were seen. Throughout all of our efforts to help our little boy overcome these devastating circumstances, he never complained and was his usual amazing loving and trusting self. We would have done anything for him, but nothing was working to get him on the road to recovery. Magnum did not improve, but instead his respiratory state worsened and his tracheal collapse and ability to breathe were worsening. We were taking Our precious Magnum to the vets every 2-3 days for oxygenation in the hope he would regain his strength as he was fighting with every ounce of his being to beat this again, and stay with us. We had no idea our beautiful boy would be taken from us so suddenly. Magnum needed to be hospitalized directly from the vets on Sep 1st as he needed continuous oxygenation, and he appeared as if he was going to be okay as he was sitting up on the stretcher breathing easy and just watching everything around him and he looked so comfortable and at ease during this transfer from the vets to the hospital. However, our sweet Magnum was unable to recover from the deterioration of his tracheal function during his hospitalization this time, and we can only be thankful that we were able to see him to let him know how much we loved him before we had to help him pass over to rainbow bridge. Magnum will always be our first baby boy...now our angel baby boy. Magnum has touched our lives beyond that of which any words can ever express. His passing has been extremely difficult on us, he is in our thoughts daily. R.I.P. Our beautiful angel, Magnum  |
I am so sorry for the loss of your Magnum. |
I am so sorry for your loss. It's obvious from your post that you loved him very much. I'm sure Magnum felt that love. |
Welcome. So sorry for your loss. |
So sorry for your loss. And welcome to yt |
Welcome, I'm sorry for your loss. Many of us on here know those feelings. Over time we don't forget but it does become easier when we are able to remember the fun times. I'm sure he loved you too and was grateful for your love and care. |
my heart aches for you and your pain. may you find peace and more memories of the fantastic times soon. |
So very sorry for your loss of Magnum :( |
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your little Magnum. I lost my Gracie at 6 1/2 from the same thing. Magnum and Gracie's path was very similar. Hugs |
So very sorry for your loss of Magnum, he sounded like a great pup. Nothing will stop the pain, but as I found out earlier this year, focusing on the good times and memories, really helps. He was lucky to have you, and it's easy to tell, the love went both ways between you and Magnum, may he rest in peace. Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT, I am sorry it had to be under these circumstances :(. It is so very hard when we lose such a vital part of our family as these little ones become. Praying for peace for you and your family. I know Magnum was loved just by reading your post and I am sure he knew as well. God bless you. |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks for the love and support everyone. I know that some of you have lost a special little being due to circumstance similar to Magnum, or other causes. Here's a pic of our beautiful boy (had a little trouble at first creating a thumbnail)....... |
I am so sorry for the loss of Magnum. He truly was an adorable little boy, so perky and sweet looking. Many of us have experienced the loss of a little fur kid, and can understand how devastating it is. May your hearts heal in time, and may the sweet memories of Magnum comfort you. |
I am so sorry that you and your precious boy had to go through this. You did everything you could have done. |
It is amazing how these little souls become such a major part of our lives and we would do anything for them. I am so sorry that medical treatment couldn't save Magnum. |
dog Tears as I read about beautiful Magnum. My Teddy Peanut passed last Dec My heart hurts and I miss him like you miss precious Magnum. I know the Lord has a plan for all of us, even our Yorkies. So I handed Ted back over to Him and I hope to see him romping around someday when I go to heaven. |
I am so sorry about what happened to Magnum. He was such a cutie pie. I am a member in good standing in the 'Broken Hearts Club' myself, so I understand your loss. My sincerest condolences...I hope the sorrow of losing him is soon dulled by all the fantastic memories you have of your wonderful times with Magnum. |
So very sorry for your loss. RIP Magnum |
So sorry for your loss! |
How sad... I'm so very sorry for your loss. RIP Magnum. |
I'm so sorry to hear about Magnum; what a beautiful pup he was. I know the feeling though... I lost my Minnie Bear in May to kidney problems and the related seizures, and we had her into the vet and the ER almost every day the last week hoping she could bounce back. It doesn't sound like there is any more you could have done for Magnum. I guess we could look at it like it's cruel to lose these great pups after only a few years, but with just how improbable one's birth really is I think our pups were both big winners for the time they had. RIP Magnum |
I am so very sorry for your loss... It sounds like you did everything in your power to save him. RIP Sweet Magnum |
I'm so very sorry. Rest in Peace, Magnum. |
It is so hard to lose our little ones. I had to have my little Schnauzer put to sleep when he had inoperable cancer. Then, I had to help my mother go through the loss of her little dog. So I can really sympathize with your loss of Magnus. Now, I have a little Yorkie, Taffy, who is three years old. My husband has become very attached to him also (the man who previously only liked cats), so I know that it would be very hard for us if we lost him. God bless you and may you remember all the happy memories that we always carry with us of our special little puppies. With all our sympathy, Mike, Sue, & Taffy |
