Help! Gunner is a poop-eater... This is so gross. He has his pee pad in the laundry room. He is almost completely housetrained, so I let him roam from time to time. This is what he does. He goes to his paper and poops, then he brings it back to the livingroom like a prize! He doesn't really eat it, it is more like he chews on it. Usually, I am right there to pick it up, but once in a while he manages to get it. Oh, as soon as he knows I know what he has in his mouth, he runs, usually under the table where I cannot reach him. I know there are things out there I can put on his food, but are those things safe? I read they put msg on food to keep them from eating it, but that is poison and I know most of the products out there have msg as a main ingredient. Any other natural products I can use to discourage this behavior? Thanks. |
Your boy Gunner sounds more and more like my Cookie Monster every day. It's stories like this that make me think it's not such a bad thing that Cook isn't pee-pad trained (only outdoors), haha. |
Have you tried probiotics w/digestive enzymes? It pretty much breaks down the food in the gut & absorbs all the nutrients. The poopies that come out is just waste, not an appetizing thing. |

I remember when I tried putting Fortiflora probiotic on Cookie's food for a few days. She HATED it. |

Yuck. Dorrie is always trying to get the cat poop. She's so picky with food, but poop and crayons, she'll eat! Blech! |

I had some probs with Meika, but it went away when I stopped adding home cooked chicken & rice to their kibble, and actually switched to a lower protein/fat kibble (Wellness Healthy Weight). I think maybe before there was too much "good" stuff passing thru, haha. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. |
