Time Between Surgeries…HELP! Hi Everyone! Some of you may know me. I've got my little Lou'e and recently adopted Maggie… Well, Maggie just had her dental surgery done..on the 26th of November…she had a cleaning done and only one extraction - thank goodness! The extraction wasn't anything severe, the tooth was so loose that they could literally pull the tooth out with their fingers, no stitches or sutures were needed. Her spay was then booked for the 11th of December but they called me today to see if I could do it sooner because they had a cancellation. I immediately agreed, the sooner, the better….right? So she is booked in for the 4th of December. But someone brought to my attention that maybe her being put under twice in just 9 days is too much? What is everyone's opinion on this? They did a complete blood panel on her before her dental and they said she is totally healthy. The place where she is getting her spay done as well is the Vet Teaching Hospital at the Ontario Veterinary Clinic at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. From what I was told is that the DVM is the one that is doing the procedure while the students stand and watch. This VTH is one of the most reputable hospitals in the world…and the last few times I have taken Maggie there they have been the kindest and most accommodating places I have ever been to. Just need some insight and advice. Maggie has stolen my heart and really want the best for her. Thanks in advance. -Sandra, Lou'e & Maggie.*** |
Wonder why they never done the spay when she was getting her teeth done:confused: I can't help u as I don't know much about it sorry ,, all I no is they done the spay and teeth at the same time with my girl :) |
It is fine. They should have done it at the same time though. |
Buster had three knee surgeries within six weeks. Two were one week apart. We had no choice on any of the surgeries but everything turned out ok. I hope if the surgeon had any concerns he would have said something. But again, the surgeries had to be done. |
Thanks everyone. All the vet places that I called in my city and surrounding areas said they wouldn't do them both at the same time - have no idea why...maybe because they weren't sure if there were going to be many extractions done on her teeth. Also, come on...it's a money grab...they are going to get more money from me from two surgeries... ;) |
