Monty is trembling (shaking) and yawning I am not sure if there is something wrong with him or not, all of a sudden Monty started shaking like crazy and then yawning (stress?). Nothing really was going on, we had put the Christmas tree up and were cooking bacon for brunch, my daughter said this has happened before when the oven was being used (coincidence?). Just wondered if any of you more experienced yorkie owners had gone through anything like this with your dogs or knew what might be causing this. Other than the shaking and yawning nothing else seems to be 'off' with him. |
I don't know much, but I'm pretty sure shaking and yawning are signs of stress. |
Could he be cold? |
Is he yawning or panting? (tongue out etc). Our Kyra when stressed pants and shakes. |
Is his whole body shaking or just head? Might check his ears. My Meika was yawning a lot when she had a mild ear infection. |
Could be stress, fear, or a sign of pain. |
When my boy was doing that and also licking his lips/swallowing as though nauseated, the vet said it was indicative of pain--that he may have a strained muscle or sore joint. She gave him pain meds to use until he felt better and told us to save any extra in case he tweaks his injury again. It worked out fine. |
Daisy paces nervously and pants when I turn the oven on or fry bacon or something. She wants to go outside and cower in fear. We used to have a really sensative smoke alarm that went off when frying bacon, making toast etc. I think she still thinks the alarm will go off when food is cooking. Hubby thinks it is the smell of the heat and a natural instinct to fear fire. |
Mina was tense and shaking all over the other night when Kenzie was playing with the lazer pointer. Mina would charge Kenzie and snap at her. We finally figured out that Mina, who is almost 3yrs, was trying to protect Kenzie ,who is 6 1/2 months, from the dangerous red light that was moving on the floor. Mina was terrified! |
Could also be a Female in Heat somewhere close. My two guys are little Vibrators when this occurs. |

So maybe it is a reaction to the stove. Good luck with it. |
